Journal ArticleDOI
Local Consolidation Therapy (LCT) After First Line Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor (TKI) for Patients With EGFR Mutant Metastatic Non-small-cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).
Yasir Elamin,Daniel R. Gomez,Mara B. Antonoff,Jacqulyne P. Robichaux,Hai T. Tran,Melissa K. Shorter,Jadi M. Bohac,Marcelo V. Negrao,Xiuning Le,Waree Rinsurogkawong,Jeff Lewis,Lara Lacerda,Emily Roarty,Stephen G. Swisher,Jack A. Roth,Jianjun Zhang,Vassiliki A. Papadimitrakopoulou,John V. Heymach +17 more
TL;DR: A retrospective analysis of LCT after TKI in patients with metastatic EGFR mutant NSCLC suggests that first‐line TKI plus LCT is a promising therapeutic strategy for patients with EGFR mutants that merits further investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Application of the revised lung cancer staging system (IASLC Staging Project) to a cancer center population.
Edmund S. Kassis,Ara A. Vaporciyan,Stephen G. Swisher,Arlene M. Correa,B. Nebiyou Bekele,Jeremy J. Erasmus,Wayne L. Hofstetter,Ritsuko Komaki,Reza J. Mehran,Cesar A. Moran,Katherine M.W. Pisters,David C. Rice,Garrett L. Walsh,Jack A. Roth +13 more
TL;DR: The proposed IASLC staging system is more effective at differentiating stage than the UICC-6 system and will shift some patients from a stage previously considered unresectable to a stage frequently offered surgical resection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Omental reinforcement of the thoracic esophagogastric anastomosis: An analysis of leak and reintervention rates in patients undergoing planned and salvage esophagectomy
Boris Sepesi,Stephen G. Swisher,Garrett L. Walsh,Arlene M. Correa,Reza J. Mehran,David C. Rice,Jack A. Roth,Ara A. Vaporciyan,Wayne L. Hofstetter +8 more
TL;DR: Thoracic transposition of an omental flap along with the gastric conduit may decrease leak incidence, severity, or need for reoperations after esophagectomy, and pedicled omental transposition is recommended to reinforce all thoracic anastomoses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induction of lymphokine-activated killer cytotoxicity with interleukin-2 and tumor necrosis factor-α against primary lung cancer targets
TL;DR: The synergy of IL-2 and TNF for generating LAK%; the lysis of fresh primary lung cancer cells by LAK; and the sequence dependence of IL/TNF for the induction of optimal LAK activity are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery for esophageal adenocarcinoma: Significance of microscopically positive circumferential radial margins
John A. Harvin,Guy Lahat,Arlene M. Correa,J. H. Lee,Dipen M. Maru,Jaffer A. Ajani,Edith M. Marom,James W. Welsh,Manoop S. Bhutani,Garrett L. Walsh,Jack A. Roth,Reza J. Mehran,Ara A. Vaporciyan,David C. Rice,Stephen G. Swisher,Wayne L. Hofstetter +15 more
TL;DR: Resections of locally advanced esophageal adenocarcinoma with residual transmural viable tumor after CRT frequently showed involvement of the radial margin with tumor either close to or at the margin, but no significant decrease in overall or disease-free survival or increase in local recurrence was seen.
