Biomechanical Remodeling of the Microenvironment by Stromal Caveolin-1 Favors Tumor Invasion and Metastasis
Jacky G. Goetz,Susana Minguet,Inmaculada Navarro-Lérida,Juan José Lazcano,Rafael Samaniego,Enrique Calvo,M. J. Tello,Teresa Osteso-Ibánez,Teijo Pellinen,Asier Echarri,Ana Cerezo,Andres J. Klein-Szanto,Ricardo Garcia,Patricia J. Keely,Paloma Sánchez-Mateos,Edna Cukierman,Miguel A. del Pozo +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that caveolin-1 (Cav1) favors cell elongation in three-dimensional cultures and promotes Rho- and force-dependent contraction, matrix alignment, and microenvironment stiffening through regulation of p190RhoGAP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lattices, rafts, and scaffolds: domain regulation of receptor signaling at the plasma membrane
TL;DR: Evidence that these heterogeneous microdomains interact to regulate substratum adhesion and cytokine receptor dynamics at the cell surface is reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Caveolin-1 in tumor progression: the good, the bad and the ugly
TL;DR: It is argued that Cav1 function is interdependent on tumor stage and the expression of molecular effectors that impact on its role during tumor progression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma membrane domain organization regulates EGFR signaling in tumor cells
Patrick Lajoie,Emily A. Partridge,Ginette Guay,Jacky G. Goetz,Jacky G. Goetz,Judy Pawling,Annick Lagana,Bharat H. Joshi,James W. Dennis,James W. Dennis,Ivan R. Nabi +10 more
TL;DR: Caveolin-1 is a conditional tumor suppressor whose loss is advantageous when β1,6GlcNAc-branched N-glycans are below a threshold for optimal galectin lattice formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phosphorylated caveolin-1 regulates Rho/ROCK-dependent focal adhesion dynamics and tumor cell migration and invasion.
Bharat H. Joshi,Scott S. Strugnell,Jacky G. Goetz,Liliana D. Kojic,Michael E. Cox,Obi L. Griffith,Simon K. Chan,Steven J.M. Jones,S Leung,Hamid Masoudi,Samuel Leung,Sam M. Wiseman,Ivan R. Nabi +12 more
TL;DR: Stable expression and knockdown studies of Cav1 in tumor cells showed that phosphorylated Cav1 expression stimulates Rho activation, stabilizes FAK association with FAs, and promotes cell migration and invasion in a ROCK-dependent and Src-dependent manner.
