Tsunami generation by potential, partially submerged rockslides in an abandoned open-pit mine: the case of Black Lake, Quebec, Canada
Jonathan Leblanc,Dominique Turmel,Jacques Locat,Carl B. Harbitz,Finn Løvholt,Jihwan Kim,Martin Grenon,Ariane Locat +7 more
TL;DR: The Black Lake rockslide is located on the east wall of an open-pit mine initially operated by LAB Chrysotile near Thetford Mines, Quebec.
Journal ArticleDOI
Utilisation du céléromètre ultrasonique sur des sols cohérents
TL;DR: In this paper, the Swedish cone shear strength was measured with an ultrasonic celerometer in clayy soils with or without additives, and the correlation between the speed of shear waves and the shear speed was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reprint of Evolution of an anthropic source to sink system: Wabush lake☆
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used multibeam bathymetric surveys of Wabush Lake to determine the evolution through time of this anthropic source-to-sink system, from the point where sediments exit the slurry pipelines at the head of the system to the distal end and bottom of the Lake.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tsunami modelling of the 7250 cal years BP Betsiamites submarine landslide
TL;DR: In this article, a large sub-aerial submarine landslide complex was mapped using multi-beam bathymetry and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data, and it was shown that, even if the mobilized volume is very high and there is a long runout, the tsunami generated is small with tsunami wave amplitudes of <1.5 m, except in the vicinity of the landslide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studies of mass-movement processes on submarine slopes
Lincoln F. Pratson,Homa J. Lee,Gary Parker,Marcelo H. Garcia,Bernard Coakley,David Mohrig,Jacques Locat,Ulisses T. Mello,Jeffrey D. Parsons,Sun Uk Choi,Kenneth Isreal +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on predicting where and how mass movements of sediments could occur, and what role these events play in con t inen ta l s lope evolu t ion.
