Journal ArticleDOI

Incidence of real-time recordings of pulmonary vein potentials using the third-generation short-tip cryoballoon.

TL;DR: The rate of visualization of RT recordings is significantly high during third-generation CB-ST ablation, and real-time recordings can be visualized in ∼87.1% of veins with this novel cryoballoon.
Journal ArticleDOI

Learning curve using the second-generation cryoballoon ablation

TL;DR: Inexperienced operators, trained in high-volume centers, can achieve pulmonary vein isolation safely and efficiently with short procedure and fluoroscopy times after having performed 20–30 cases with the second-generation cryoballoon.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association among duration of mechanical ventilation, cuff material of endotracheal tube, and postoperative nosocomial pneumonia in cardiac surgical patients: A prospective study

TL;DR: Evidence is provided that among cardiac surgical patients, mechanical ventilation more than 16.6 hours is associated with an increased likelihood of postoperative pneumonia, and the discriminatory cutoff value of intubation duration is determined.
Journal ArticleDOI

A European survey of nosocomial infection control and hospital-acquired pneumonia prevention practices.

TL;DR: This European survey shows a 72% overall adherence rate to VAP prevention measures; with strong agreements between physician and nurses but considerable differences among countries for availability and organization aspects of infection control, providing healthcare authorities with figures for future programs.
