Journal ArticleDOI
A reappraisal of the impact of dairy foods and milk fat on cardiovascular disease risk
J. Bruce German,Robert A. Gibson,Ronald M. Krauss,Paul J. Nestel,Benoît Lamarche,Wija A. van Staveren,Jan Steijns,Lisette C. P. G. M. de Groot,Adam L. Lock,Frédéric Destaillats +9 more
TL;DR: Despite the contribution of dairy products to the saturated fatty acid composition of the diet, and given the diversity of dairy foods of widely differing composition, there is no clear evidence that dairy food consumption is consistently associated with a higher risk of CVD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gastric digestion of bovine lactoferrin in vivo in adults.
TL;DR: It is concluded that after oral administration, substantial amounts of apoLF and holoF survive gastric transit and inhibit intragastric LF breakdown.
Journal ArticleDOI
Operationalising the health aspects of sustainable diets: a review.
TL;DR: The aim of the present review was to categorise and summarise the different approaches to operationalise the health aspects of environmentally sustainable diets and propose SHARP diets: environmentally Sustainable (S), Healthy (H), Affordable (A), Reliable (R) and Preferred from the consumer’s perspective (P).
Journal ArticleDOI
Protein type, protein dose, and age modulate dietary protein digestion and phenylalanine absorption kinetics and plasma phenylalanine availability in humans
Stefan H. M. Gorissen,Jorn Trommelen,Imre W. K. Kouw,Andrew M. Holwerda,Bart Pennings,Bart B. L. Groen,Benjamin T. Wall,Tyler A. Churchward-Venne,Astrid M. H. Horstman,René Koopman,Nicholas A. TL;DR: Protein type, protein dose, and age modulate dietary protein digestion and amino acid absorption kinetics and subsequent postprandial plasma amino acid availability in vivo in humans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dairy products and bone health: how strong is the scientific evidence?
TL;DR: The role of dairy products for BMC or BMD has been sufficiently established in Chinese and Caucasian girls and women and in Caucasian women, drinking milk also reduces fracture risk.
