Journal ArticleDOI
In vitro fertilization with preimplantation genetic screening.
Sebastiaan Mastenbroek,M. Twisk,Jannie van Echten-Arends,Birgit Sikkema-Raddatz,Johanna C. Korevaar,Harold R. Verhoeve,Niels E. A. Vogel,Eus G. J. M. Arts,Jan W.A de Vries,Patrick M.M. Bossuyt,Charles H.C.M. Buys,Maas Jan Heineman,Sjoerd Repping,Fulco van der Veen +13 more
TL;DR: Preimplantation genetic screening did not increase but instead significantly reduced the rates of ongoing pregnancies and live births after IVF in women of advanced maternal age.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polymorphism for a 1.6-Mb deletion of the human Y chromosome persists through balance between recurrent mutation and haploid selection.
Sjoerd Repping,Helen Skaletsky,Laura G. Brown,Saskia K.M. van Daalen,Cindy M. Korver,Tatyana Pyntikova,Tomoko Kuroda-Kawaguchi,Tomoko Kuroda-Kawaguchi,Jan W.A de Vries,Robert D. Oates,Sherman J. Silber,Fulco van der Veen,David C. Page,Steve Rozen +13 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the existence of this deletion as a polymorphism reflects a balance between haploid selection, which culls gr/gr-deleted Y chromosomes from the population, and homologous recombination, which continues to generate newgr/gr deletions.

Journal ArticleDOI
Reduced copy number of DAZ genes in subfertile and infertile men.
Jan W.A de Vries,Mariëtte J.V. Hoffer,Sjoerd Repping,Jan M. N. Hoovers,Nico J. Leschot,Fulco van der Veen +5 more
TL;DR: Phenotypic differences between patients with different deletions suggest a dose effect of the DAZ genes, and two different partial deletions were found that were not detected by PCR with conventional markers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of the total motile sperm count to predict total fertilization failure in in vitro fertilization
TL;DR: The use of both models, one before start of the IVF cycle and one at the time of OPU, allows an accurate prediction of the chance of TFF and is useful in counseling patients on whether to opt for IVF or ICSI.
