Comparison of the effects of calcified green macroalga (Halimeda macroloba Decaisne) and commercial CaCO3 on the properties of composite starch foam trays.

TL;DR: The calcified green macroalga, Halimeda macroloba, is a source of bio-based calcium carbonate which can be used as a filler in starch foam tray and the composites starch foam trays with macroalgal powder had better impact strength than starch/commercial CaCO3 composite foam tray.

Seasonal variations in diversity and abundance of macroalgae at Samui Island, Surat Thani Province, Thailand

TL;DR: Songklanakarin et al. as discussed by the authors investigated seasonal variations in diversity and abundance of macroalgae at Samui Island, Surat Thani Province, Southern Thailand was investigated during rainy and dry seasons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Can macroalgae recover, 13 months after the 2004 Tsunami?: a case study at Talibong Island, Trang Province, Thailand

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the effect of the tsunami on the seaweed community, and its recovery, at Talibong Island, one of the affected areas in Trang province.
Journal ArticleDOI

Banana inflorescence waste fiber: An effective filler for starch-based bioplastics

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors explored the possibility of developing a starch-based bioplastic product using fiber from banana inflorescence waste as a filler and found good adhesion between the filler and the starch matrix.
