UNC93B1 mediates differential trafficking of endosomal TLRs
Bettina L. Lee,Joanne E Moon,Jeffrey H Shu,Lin Yuan,Zachary R Newman,Randy Schekman,Gregory M. Barton +6 more
TL;DR: A mechanism for differential sorting of endosomal TLRs by UNC93B1 is described, which may explain the distinct roles played by these receptors in certain autoimmune diseases.

Fletcher,Melanie Ott,Melanie Ott +37 more
TL;DR: This work reports the development of an amplification-free CRISPR-Cas13a-based mobile phone assay for direct detection of SARS-CoV-2 from nasal swab RNA extracts that achieved ~100 copies/L sensitivity in under 30 minutes and accurately detected a set of positive clinical samples in under 5 minutes.

Sensitive and multiplexed RNA detection with Cas13 droplets and kinetic barcoding
Sungmin Son,Amy Lyden,Amy Lyden,Jeffrey H Shu,Stephanie I Stephens,Parinaz Fozouni,Gavin J. Knott,Gavin J. Knott,Dylan C. J. Smock,Tina Y. Liu,Daniela Boehm,Camille R. Simoneau,Renuka Kumar,Jennifer A. Doudna,Melanie Ott,Melanie Ott,Daniel A. Fletcher +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, a droplet-based Cas13a assay with kinetic barcoding was proposed to detect SARS-CoV-2 variants within a single droplet by tracking nuclease activity within individual droplets over time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flavivirus NS1 Triggers Tissue-Specific Disassembly of Intercellular Junctions Leading to Barrier Dysfunction and Vascular Leak in a GSK-3β-Dependent Manner
Henry Puerta-Guardo,Scott B. Biering,Francielle Tramontini Gomes de Sousa,Jeffrey H Shu,Dustin R. Glasner,Jeffrey S Li,Sophie F. Blanc,P. Robert Beatty,Eva Harris +8 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the relative contribution of five flavivirus NS1 proteins to the expression and localization of the intercellular junction proteins β-catenin and VE-cadherin in endothelial cells from human umbilical vein and brain tissues found them to be a potential therapeutic target for treatment of vascular leakage during severe dengue disease.
