Journal ArticleDOI

Alterations of the human gut microbiome in liver cirrhosis

TL;DR: The gut microbiome in liver cirrhosis is characterized by comparing 98 patients and 83 healthy control individuals and on the basis of only 15 biomarkers, a highly accurate patient discrimination index is created and validated on an independent cohort, suggesting microbiota-targeted biomarkers may be a powerful tool for diagnosis of different diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of H7N9 virus infection and associated treatment on human gut microbiota

TL;DR: It was concluded that H7N9 viral infection and antibiotic administration have a significant effect on the microbiota community with decreased diversity and overgrowth of the bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecium.
Journal ArticleDOI

Integrated transcriptomic and proteomic analysis of the bile stress response in probiotic Lactobacillus salivarius LI01.

TL;DR: The bile resistance of LI01 is found to be based on a highly remodeled cell envelope and a reinforced bile efflux system rather than on the activity of bile salt hydrolases, and a model of global response mechanism to bile stress in L. salivarius is established.
Journal ArticleDOI

Profiling, clinicopathological correlation and functional validation of specific long non-coding RNAs for hepatocellular carcinoma.

TL;DR: The co-expression network analysis between DEGs and DELs showed that DELs were involved with metabolic, cell cycle, chemical carcinogenesis, and complement and coagulation cascade-related pathways and provide promising targets for the future diagnosis and treatment of HCC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome sequencing and genomic characterization of a tigecycline-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strain isolated from the bile samples of a cholangiocarcinoma patient

TL;DR: The genome sequence and genomic characterization of tigecycline-resistant K. pneumoniae strain 5422 isolated from the bile samples of a patient with cholangiocarcinoma indicate the presence of an antibiotic resistance mechanism prior to antibiotics overuse.
