Journal ArticleDOI

X-ray diffraction from isolated and strongly aligned gas-phase molecules with a free-electron laser

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported experimental results on x-ray diffraction of quantum-state-selected and strongly aligned ensembles of the prototypical asymmetric rotor molecule 2,5-diiodobenzonitrile using the Linac Coherent Light Source.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pure Samples of Individual Conformers: The Separation of Stereoisomers of Complex Molecules Using Electric Fields

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that electrostatic deflection, a classic molecular beam manipulation method that dates back to the 1920s, allows the spatial separation of the conformers of a neutral molecule when it is applied to intense beams of rotationally cold molecules produced by a state-ofthe-art pulsed supersonic expansion source.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular-frame 3D photoelectron momentum distributions by tomographic reconstruction.

TL;DR: The theoretical analysis shows that the magnitude of the angular shift is very sensitive to the exact form of the laser-modified molecular potential, which reveals an anisotropic electron distribution, angularly shifted in the polarization plane, that is not accessible by the 2D momentum images.
Journal ArticleDOI

Imaging molecular structure through femtosecond photoelectron diffraction on aligned and oriented gas-phase molecules

TL;DR: In this paper, the femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron diffraction on gas-phase molecules in a pump-probe setup combining optical lasers and an X-ray free-electron laser is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Femtosecond x-ray photoelectron diffraction on gas-phase dibromobenzene molecules

TL;DR: In this article, the angular distribution of dissociating, laser-aligned 1,4-dibromobenzene (C6H4Br2) molecules was measured in a near-infrared pump, soft-x-ray probe experiment performed at an x-ray free-electron laser.
