Journal ArticleDOI
Robot-Assisted Therapy for Long-Term Upper-Limb Impairment after Stroke
Albert C. Lo,Peter Guarino,Lorie Richards,Jodie K. Haselkorn,George F. Wittenberg,Daniel G. Federman,Daniel G. Federman,Robert J. Ringer,Todd H. Wagner,Hermano Igo Krebs,Bruce T. Volpe,Christopher T. Bever,Dawn M. Bravata,Pamela W. Duncan,Barbara H. Corn,Alysia D. Maffucci,Stephen E. Nadeau,Susan S. Conroy,Janet M. Powell,Grant D. Huang,Peter Peduzzi +20 more
TL;DR: In patients with long-term upper-limb deficits after stroke, robot-assisted therapy did not significantly improve motor function at 12 weeks, as compared with usual care or intensive therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patient Outcomes After Lumbar Spinal Fusions
Judith A. Turner,Mary Ersek,Larry D. Herron,Jodie K. Haselkorn,Jodie K. Haselkorn,Daniel L. Kent,Daniel L. Kent,Marcia A. Ciol,Richard A. Deyo +8 more
TL;DR: Clinical outcomes did not differ by diagnosis or fusion technique, but were worse in studies with a greater number of previously operated patients, and complications of fusions are common.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Gulf War era multiple sclerosis cohort: age and incidence rates by race, sex and service
Mitchell T. Wallin,William J. Culpepper,Parisa Coffman,Sarah Pulaski,Heidi Maloni,Clare M. Mahan,Jodie K. Haselkorn,Jodie K. Haselkorn,John F. Kurtzke,John F. Kurtzke +9 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that females of all races now have incidence rates for multiple sclerosis some three times those of their male counterparts and that among these groups, Blacks have the highest and others (probably including Hispanics) the lowest incidence rates regardless of sex or service.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Economic Analysis of Robot-Assisted Therapy for Long-Term Upper-Limb Impairment After Stroke
Todd H. Wagner,Albert C. Lo,Peter Peduzzi,Dawn M. Bravata,Grant D. Huang,Hermano Igo Krebs,Hermano Igo Krebs,Robert J. Ringer,Daniel G. Federman,Daniel G. Federman,Lorie Richards,Jodie K. Haselkorn,George F. Wittenberg,Bruce T. Volpe,Christopher T. Bever,Pamela W. Duncan,Andrew M. Siroka,Peter Guarino +17 more
TL;DR: The added cost of delivering robot or intensive comparison therapy was recuperated by lower healthcare use costs compared with those in the usual care group, and uncertainty remains about the cost-effectiveness of robotic-assisted rehabilitation compared with traditional rehabilitation.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized clinical trial of an activity and exercise adherence intervention in chronic pulmonary disease.
Bonnie G. Steele,Basia Belza,Kevin C. Cain,Jeff Coppersmith,Sambasiva Lakshminarayan,JoEllen Howard,Jodie K. Haselkorn +6 more
TL;DR: The intervention enhanced exercise adherence and exercise capacity in the short term but produced no long-term benefit, due to the disappointing measurement characteristics of the accelerometer used to measure daily activity.
