Journal ArticleDOI

Fuel temperature influence on diesel sprays in inert and reacting conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, a continuous flow test chamber is used to evaluate the effect of the injector body temperature on the evaporation and combustion of the diesel spray diagnostic, and the relationship between injector and fuel temperature has been observed experimentally.
Journal ArticleDOI

A 1D model for the description of mixing-controlled reacting diesel sprays

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the transient evolution of diesel flames in terms of fuel-air mixing, spray penetration and combustion rate, and showed that the transient diesel flame evolution is mainly governed by two combustion-induced effects, namely the reduction in local density and the increase in flame radial width.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fundamental spray and combustion measurements of soy methyl-ester biodiesel

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of biodiesel on injection processes, combustion and emission formation under diesel engine conditions remains somewhat unclear, although it has begun to penetrate the fuel market, its effect on injection process, combustion process, and emissions formation under Diesel engine conditions is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A study on diesel spray tip penetration and radial expansion under reacting conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the shape of Diesel spray was investigated at real engine conditions in a constant pressure combustion chamber and the Schlieren imaging technique was used to make quantitative measurements of spray tip penetration and radial width stressing the impact that the fuel combustion and heat release have on the spray shape.
