Journal ArticleDOI
Transient low doses of DNA-demethylating agents exert durable antitumor effects on hematological and epithelial tumor cells.
Hsing-Chen Tsai,Huili Li,Leander Van Neste,Yi Cai,Carine Robert,Feyruz V. Rassool,James Shin,Kirsten Harbom,Robert Beaty,Emmanouil P. Pappou,James C. Harris,Ray Whay Chiu Yen,Nita Ahuja,Malcolm V. Brock,Vered Stearns,David Feller-Kopman,Lonny Yarmus,Yi Chun Lin,Alana L. Welm,Jean Pierre J. Issa,Il Minn,William Matsui,William Matsui,Yoon Young Jang,Saul J. Sharkis,Stephen B. Baylin,Stephen B. Baylin,Cynthia A. Zahnow +27 more
TL;DR: It is shown that transient exposure of cultured and primary leukemic and epithelial tumor cells to clinically relevant nanomolar doses produce an antitumor "memory" response, including inhibition of subpopulations of cancer stem-like cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic Yield and Complications of Bronchoscopy for Peripheral Lung Lesions. Results of the AQuIRE Registry
David Ost,Armin Ernst,Xiudong Lei,Kevin L. Kovitz,Sadia Benzaquen,Javier Diaz-Mendoza,Sara Greenhill,Jennifer Toth,David Feller-Kopman,Jonathan Puchalski,Daniel Baram,Raj Karunakara,Carlos A. Jimenez,Joshua Filner,Rodolfo C. Morice,George A. Eapen,Gaetane Michaud,Rosa M. Estrada-Y-Martin,Samaan Rafeq,Horiana B. Grosu,Cynthia Ray,Christopher R. Gilbert,Lonny Yarmus,Michael Simoff +23 more
TL;DR: Peripheral TBNA improved diagnostic yield for peripheral lesions but was underused, and the diagnostic yields of EMN and r-EBUS were lower than expected, even after adjustment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeting Nrf2 Signaling Improves Bacterial Clearance by Alveolar Macrophages in Patients with COPD and in a Mouse Model
Christopher J. Harvey,Rajesh K. Thimmulappa,Sanjay Sethi,Xiaoni Kong,Lonny Yarmus,Robert H. Brown,Robert H. Brown,David Feller-Kopman,Robert A. Wise,Shyam Biswal,Shyam Biswal +10 more
TL;DR: The authors hypothesized that enhancing the synthesis of Nrf2-inducing antioxidants in lung macrophages from COPD patients would reduce oxidative stress and thus restore the cells’ ability to internalize and obliterate bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Technical Aspects of Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration: CHEST Guideline and Expert Panel Report
Momen M. Wahidi,Felix J.F. Herth,Kazuhiro Yasufuku,Ray W. Shepherd,Lonny Yarmus,Mohit Chawla,Carla Lamb,Kenneth R. Casey,Sheena Patel,Gerard A. Silvestri,David Feller-Kopman +10 more
TL;DR: Evidence on the technical aspects of EB US-TBNA varies in strength but is satisfactory in certain areas to guide clinicians on the best conditions to perform EBUS-guided tissue sampling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pneumonitis in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients Receiving Immune Checkpoint Immunotherapy: Incidence and Risk Factors.
Karthik Suresh,Khinh Ranh Voong,Bairavi Shankar,Patrick M. Forde,Patrick M. Forde,David S. Ettinger,Kristen A. Marrone,Kristen A. Marrone,Ronan J. Kelly,Ronan J. Kelly,Christine L. Hann,Christine L. Hann,Benjamin Levy,Benjamin Levy,Josephine Feliciano,Josephine Feliciano,Julie R. Brahmer,Julie R. Brahmer,David Feller-Kopman,Andrew D. Lerner,Hans J. Lee,Lonny Yarmus,Franco R. D'Alessio,Russell K. Hales,Cheng Ting Lin,Kevin J. Psoter,Sonye K. Danoff,Jarushka Naidoo,Jarushka Naidoo +28 more
TL;DR: A higher incidence of CIP is demonstrated (19%) than previously reported in clinical trials (3%–5%) and the data suggest that tumor histologic type may be a risk factor for CIP development.
