Costa Rica's Payment for Environmental Services Program: Intention, Implementation, and Impact

Governance, Location and Avoided Deforestation from Protected Areas: Greater Restrictions Can Have Lower Impact, Due to Differences in Location

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare the impacts of different levels of environmental protection in the Brazilian Amazon and find that sustainable use protection, whose governance permits some local deforestation, is found on sites with high clearing threat, and integral protection, which bans clearing but seems feasible only further from deforestation threats.
