Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the Netherlands: the nationwide emergence of a single sequence type

TL;DR: Genotyping by multiple-locus variable-number tandem-repeat analysis (MLVA) showed that the majority of the 82 MBL-producing isolates found belonged to a single MLVA type (n = 70, 85%), identified as ST111 by multilocus sequence typing (MLST).
Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid Typing of Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase- and Carbapenemase-Producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates by Use of SpectraCell RA

TL;DR: RA was able to discriminate outbreak-related isolates from isolates that were not involved in an outbreak or transmission, and it was found that the RA approach recognized clones, irrespective of the extended-spectrum β-lactamase type.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determinants of carriage of resistant Escherichia coli in the Indonesian population inside and outside hospitals

TL;DR: Recent antibiotic use was the most important determinant of resistance in both populations and differences were observed between hospitals, and whether transmission is responsible for these differences is needed to investigate.
