Protective Effects of Wogonin against Alzheimer's Disease by Inhibition of Amyloidogenic Pathway
TL;DR: Wogonin, one of the major active constituting components in Scutellaria baicalensis, has the neuroprotective effects on amyloid-β peptides- (Aβ-) induced toxicity and may be a promising multifunctional drug candidate for AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aqueous extract of Gardenia jasminoides targeting oxidative stress to reduce polyQ aggregation in cell models of spinocerebellar ataxia 3.
Kuo-Hsuan Chang,Wan Ling Chen,Yih Ru Wu,Te Hsien Lin,Yi Ci Wu,Chih Ying Chao,Jung Yaw Lin,Li Ching Lee,Yi-Chun Chen,Guey Jen Lee-Chen,Chiung Mei Chen +10 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate the therapeutic applications of G. jasminoides in treating SCAs and oxidative stress inhibition could be a good target for drug development of anti-polyQ aggregation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The aqueous extract of Glycyrrhiza inflata can upregulate unfolded protein response-mediated chaperones to reduce tau misfolding in cell models of Alzheimer’s disease
Kuo-Hsuan Chang,I-Cheng Chen,Hsuan-Yuan Lin,Hsuan-Chiang Chen,Chih-Hsin Lin,Te-Hsien Lin,Yu-Ting Weng,Chih-Ying Chao,Yih-Ru Wu,Jung Yaw Lin,Guey Jen Lee-Chen,Chiung-Mei Chen +11 more
TL;DR: This in vitro study provides evidence that G. inflata may be a novel therapeutic for AD and tauopathies and rescued the upregulation of ERN2 (pro-apoptotic) and downregulation of unfolded-protein-response-mediated chaperones ERP44, DNAJC3, and SERP1 in ΔK280 tauRD-DsRed 293 cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
The potential of lactulose and melibiose, two novel trehalase-indigestible and autophagy-inducing disaccharides, for polyQ-mediated neurodegenerative disease treatment
Guan Chiun Lee,Chih Hsin Lin,Yu Chen Tao,Jinn-Moon Yang,Kai Cheng Hsu,Yin Jung Huang,Shih Han Huang,Pin Jui Kung,Wan Ling Chen,Chien Ming Wang,Yih Ru Wu,Chiung Mei Chen,Jung Yaw Lin,Hsiu Mei Hsieh-Li,Guey Jen Lee-Chen +14 more
TL;DR: Using polyQ-mediated spinocerebellar ataxia type 17 cell and slice cultures, it is found the aggregation was significantly prohibited by trehalose, lactulose, and melibiose, which may through up-regulating of autophagy.
Journal ArticleDOI
The potential of synthetic indolylquinoline derivatives for Aβ aggregation reduction by chemical chaperone activity.
Kuo-Hsuan Chang,Ya Jen Chiu,Shu Ling Chen,Chen Hsiang Huang,Chih Hsin Lin,Te Hsien Lin,Chi Mei Lee,Chintakunta Ramesh,Chung Hsin Wu,Chin Chang Huang,Hon Chung Fung,Yi-Chun Chen,Jung Yaw Lin,Ching Fa Yao,Hei Jen Huang,Guey Jen Lee-Chen,Ming Chung Lee,Hsiu Mei Hsieh-Li +17 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated how synthetic indolylquinoline compounds are likely to work as chemical chaperones in Aβ-aggregation reduction and neuroprotection, providing insight into the possible applications of indoly LQN compounds in AD treatment.
