Analysis of heat-shock protein 70 gene polymorphisms and the risk of Parkinson’s disease
Yih Ru Wu,Cheng Kuang Wang,Chiung Mei Chen,Yuying Hsu,Sih Jing Lin,Yi Ying Lin,Hon Chung Fung,Kuo-Hsuan Chang,Guey Jen Lee-Chen +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the association of polymorphisms −110 A/C, +190 CC, +1267 A/G, +2074 G/C and +2437 G/c in the 5' and coding regions of the HSP70-1, HSP-2, and HSP 70-hom genes with the risk of Parkinson's disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Galectin-3 is required for the microglia-mediated brain inflammation in a model of Huntington’s disease
Jian Jing Siew,Jian Jing Siew,Hui Mei Chen,Huan Yuan Chen,Hung-Lin Chen,Chiung Mei Chen,Bing-Wen Soong,Bing-Wen Soong,Yih Ru Wu,Ching Pang Chang,Yi Chen Chan,Chun-Hung Lin,Fu-Tong Liu,Fu-Tong Liu,Yijuang Chern,Yijuang Chern +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors showed that the plasma Gal3 levels of patients and mice correlated with disease severity, and that suppression of Gal3 ameliorated microglia-mediated pathogenesis, which suggests that Gal3 is a novel druggable target for HD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parkinson's disease in the Western Pacific Region
Shen-Yang Lim,Ai Huey Tan,Azlina Ahmad-Annuar,Christine Klein,Louis C.S. Tan,Raymond L. Rosales,Roongroj Bhidayasiri,Yih Ru Wu,Huifang Shang,Andrew Evans,Pramod Kumar Pal,Nobutaka Hattori,Chong Tin Tan,Beomseok Jeon,Eng-King Tan,Anthony E. Lang +15 more
TL;DR: Improvements in infrastructure, clinical governance, and services, and concerted collaborative efforts in training and research, including greater representation of the Western Pacific Region in clinical trials, will improve care of patients with Parkinson's disease in this region and beyond.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glucocerebrosidase gene mutation is a risk factor for early onset of Parkinson disease among Taiwanese.
Yih Ru Wu,Chiung Mei Chen,Chih Ying Chao,Long Sun Ro,Rong Kuo Lyu,Kuo-Hsuan Chang,Guey Jen Lee-Chen +6 more
TL;DR: Clinically, all 16 patients carrying a GBA mutation presented with a typical parkinsonian phenotype and experienced a good or excellent response to levodopa and Mutations of the GBA gene may be associated with the development of EOPD in Taiwan.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulation of energy deficiency in Huntington's disease via activation of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma
Ming Chang Chiang,Chiung Mei Chen,Maw-Rong Lee,Hsiao Wen Chen,Hui Mei Chen,Yu Shuo Wu,Cheng-Han Hung,Jheng Jie Kang,Ching Pang Chang,Chen Chang,Yih Ru Wu,Yau Sheng Tsai,Yijuang Chern +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the systematic downregulation of PPARγ seems to play a critical role in the dysregulation of energy homeostasis observed in HD, and thatPPARγ is a potential therapeutic target for this disease.
