Journal ArticleDOI

Glycopeptide antibiotics: back to the future.

TL;DR: In this review, the discovery, development and associated resistance of vancomycin and teicoplanin, and semi-synthetic glycopeptides, telavancin (3), dalbavancein (4) and oritavancIn (5), are detailed and the clinical implications of glycopePTide resistance, as well as the future prospects for current glycopesptide drugs and the development of new glycopeptic drugs are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Developments in Glycopeptide Antibiotics

TL;DR: Next-generation glycopeptides are now technically well positioned to advance to the clinic, if sufficient funding and market support returns to antibiotic development.
Journal ArticleDOI

D-Tyrosine as a Chiral Precusor to Potent Inhibitors of Human Nonpancreatic Secretory Phospholipase A2 (IIa) with Antiinflammatory Activity

TL;DR: The simple chiral precursor D‐tyrosine was derivatised to give a series of potent new inhibitors of hnpsPLA2‐IIa, which inhibit the IIa human isoform noncovalently at submicromolar concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selective tert-butyl ester deprotection in the presence of acid labile protecting groups with use of ZnBr2.

TL;DR: Chemoselective hydrolysis of tert-butyl esters in the presence of other acid-labile groups has been explored by employing alpha-amino esters and ZnBr(2) in DCM and PhF protected amines were compatible with these Lewis acid deprotection conditions such that a variety of N-(PhF)amino acids were prepared in good yields.
