TL;DR: In this paper, the effectiveness of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) on maternal glucose control and obstetric and neonatal health outcomes was examined in women with Type 1 diabetes and planning pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The results do not support a policy of providing insulin pumps to adults with poor glycaemic control until the effects of training on participants’ level of engagement in intensive self management have been determined, and both groups showed clinically relevant and long lasting decreases in HbA1c, rates of severe hypoglycaemia, and improved psychological measures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experiences of gestational diabetes and gestational diabetes care: a focus group and interview study
TL;DR: Healthcare delivery may need to be reoriented to improve the pregnancy experience and help ensure women are engaged and attentive to their own health, particularly after birth, without compromising clinical pregnancy outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
The endocrine and metabolic characteristics of a large Bardet-Biedl syndrome clinic population
Safa Mujahid,Katharine F. Hunt,Yee S Cheah,Elizabeth Forsythe,Jonathan Hazlehurst,Jonathan Hazlehurst,Kathryn Sparks,Shehla Mohammed,Jeremy W. Tomlinson,Jeremy W. Tomlinson,Stephanie A. Amiel,Paul V. Carroll,P. Beales,Mohammed S.B. Huda,Mohammed S.B. Huda,Barbara McGowan +15 more
TL;DR: Insulin resistance and the metabolic syndrome are increased in adult patients with BBS compared with matched control subjects, and increased subclinical hypothyroidism in the BBS cohort needs further investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
A role for placental kisspeptin in β cell adaptation to pregnancy
James E. Bowe,Thomas G. Hill,Katharine F. Hunt,Katharine F. Hunt,Lorna Smith,Sian Simpson,Stephanie A. Amiel,Peter M. Jones +7 more
TL;DR: Reduced placental kisspeptin production, with consequent impaired kisspept-dependent β cell compensation, may be a factor in the development of GDM in humans.
