Normal Reference Range for Mean Tissue Glucose and Glycemic Variability Derived from Continuous Glucose Monitoring for Subjects Without Diabetes in Different Ethnic Groups
Nathan R. Hill,Nick Oliver,Pratik Choudhary,Jonathan C. Levy,Peter Hindmarsh,David R. Matthews +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present normative ranges for published measures of glycemic variability for subjects without diabetes, using EasyGV software (available free for non-commercial use at www.easygv.co.uk), a custom program that calculates the SD, M-value, Mean Amortization of Glycemic excursions (MAGE), average daily risk ratio (ADRR), Lability Index (LI), J-Index, Low Blood Glucose Index (LBGI), High Blood Glimpses Index (HBGI), continuous overlapping net glycemic action (
Journal ArticleDOI
Insulin Pump Therapy With Automated Insulin Suspension in Response to Hypoglycemia: Reduction in nocturnal hypoglycemia in those at greatest risk
Pratik Choudhary,John H. Shin,Yongyin Wang,Mark L. Evans,Peter Hammond,David Kerr,James Shaw,John C. Pickup,Stephanie A. Amiel +8 more
TL;DR: Use of a sensor-augmented insulin pump with a low glucose suspend (LGS) feature that automatically suspends basal insulin delivery for up to 2 h in response to sensor-detected hypoglycemia was associated with reduced nocturnal hypoglycesmia in those at greatest risk and was well accepted by patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
The diet‐derived short chain fatty acid propionate improves beta‐cell function in humans and stimulates insulin secretion from human islets in vitro.
Attilio Pingitore,Edward S. Chambers,Thomas G. Hill,Inmaculada Ruz Maldonado,Bo Liu,Gavin A. Bewick,Douglas J. Morrison,Tom Preston,Gareth A. Wallis,Catriona Tedford,Ramón Castañera González,Guo Cai Huang,Pratik Choudhary,Gary Frost,Shanta J. Persaud +14 more
TL;DR: The effects of increasing colonic delivery of the SCFA propionate on β‐cell function in humans and the direct effects of propionates on isolated human islets in vitro are evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence-informed clinical practice recommendations for treatment of type 1 diabetes complicated by problematic hypoglycemia
Pratik Choudhary,Michael R. Rickels,Peter A. Senior,Marie-Christine Vantyghem,Paola Maffi,Thomas W.H. Kay,Bart Keymeulen,Nobuya Inagaki,Frantisek Saudek,Roger Lehmann,Bernhard J. Hering +10 more
TL;DR: This algorithm provides an evidence-informed approach to resolving problematic hypoglycemia and should be used as a guide, with individual patient circumstances directing suitability and acceptability to ensure the prudent use of technology and scarce transplant resources.
Journal ArticleDOI
Home use of closed-loop insulin delivery for overnight glucose control in adults with type 1 diabetes: a 4-week, multicentre, randomised crossover study
Hood Thabit,Alexandra Lubina-Solomon,Marietta Stadler,Lalantha Leelarathna,Emma Walkinshaw,A Pernet,Janet M. Allen,Ahmed Iqbal,Pratik Choudhary,Kavita Kumareswaran,Marianna Nodale,Chloe Nisbet,Malgorzata E. Wilinska,Katharine D. Barnard,David B. Dunger,Simon Heller,Stephanie A. Amiel,Mark L. Evans,Roman Hovorka +18 more
TL;DR: Unsupervised overnight closed-loop insulin delivery at home is feasible and could improve glucose control in adults with type 1 diabetes.
