Journal ArticleDOI
Pooled Analysis of Six Pharmacologic and Nonpharmacologic Interventions for Vasomotor Symptoms.
Katherine A. Guthrie,Andrea Z. LaCroix,Kristine E. Ensrud,Hadine Joffe,Katherine M. Newton,Susan D. Reed,Bette J. Caan,Janet S. Carpenter,Lee S. Cohen,Ellen W. Freeman,Joseph C. Larson,JoAnn E. Manson,Kathy Rexrode,Todd C. Skaar,Barbara Sternfeld,Garnet L. Anderson +15 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that escitalopram, low-dose E2, and venlafaxine provide comparable, modest reductions in vasomotor symptom frequency and bother among women with moderate hot flushes.
Journal Article
Limited effects of outpatient teaching and counseling after myocardial infarction: a controlled study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhancing the power of genetic association studies through the use of silver standard cases derived from electronic medical records.
Andrew McDavid,Paul K. Crane,Katherine M. Newton,David R. Crosslin,Wayne C. McCormick,Noah Weston,Kelly Ehrlich,Eugene Hart,Robert Harrison,Walter A. Kukull,Carla Rottscheit,Peggy L. Peissig,Elisha Stefanski,Catherine A. McCarty,Rebecca L. Zuvich,Marylyn D. Ritchie,Jonathan L. Haines,Joshua C. Denny,Gerard D. Schellenberg,Mariza de Andrade,Iftikhar J. Kullo,Rongling Li,Daniel B. Mirel,Andrew Crenshaw,James Bowen,Ge Li,Debby W. Tsuang,Susan M. McCurry,Linda Teri,Eric B. Larson,Eric B. Larson,Gail P. Jarvik,Christopher S. Carlson +32 more
TL;DR: The feasibility of using imperfectly phenotyped “silver standard” samples identified from electronic medical record diagnoses is considered in genetic association studies when these samples might be combined with an existing set of samples phenotyping with a gold standard technique.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biomarkers of progestin therapy resistance and endometrial hyperplasia progression
Kristen Upson,Kristen Upson,Kimberly H. Allison,Susan D. Reed,Carolyn D. Jordan,Katherine M. Newton,Katherine M. Newton,Elizabeth M. Swisher,Elizabeth M. Swisher,Jennifer A. Doherty,Rochelle L. Garcia +10 more
TL;DR: PRB expression shows promise as a biomarker of progestin response and may guide treatment decisions, and was associated with 90% decreased risk of persistence/progression among women with atypical hyperplasia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preeclampsia and risk of developing subsequent diabetes.
Daniel B. Carr,Katherine M. Newton,Kristina M. Utzschneider,Jenny Tong,Fernando Gerchman,Steven E. Kahn,Thomas R. Easterling,Susan R. Heckbert +7 more
TL;DR: Preeclampsia was associated with a higher risk of diabetes adjusting for age, primigravidity, and gestational diabetes, even in the absence of Gestational diabetes.
