Journal ArticleDOI
TDP-43 frontotemporal lobar degeneration and autoimmune disease
Zachary A. Miller,Katherine P. Rankin,Neill R. Graff-Radford,Leonel T. Takada,Leonel T. Takada,Virginia E. Sturm,Clare M. Cleveland,Lindsey A. Criswell,Philipp A. Jaeger,Trisha Stan,Kristin Heggeli,Sandy Chan Hsu,Sandy Chan Hsu,Anna Karydas,Baber K. Khan,Lea T. Grinberg,Maria Luisa Gorno-Tempini,Adam L. Boxer,Howard J. Rosen,Joel H. Kramer,Giovanni Coppola,Giovanni Coppola,Daniel H. Geschwind,Daniel H. Geschwind,Rosa Rademakers,William W. Seeley,Tony Wyss-Coray,Bruce L. Miller +27 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest a unique pattern of systemic inflammation in svPPA and PGRN and open new research avenues for understanding and treating disorders associated with underlying transactive response DNA-binding protein 43 aggregation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Handedness and language learning disability differentially distribute in progressive aphasia variants
Zachary A. Miller,Maria Luisa Mandelli,Katherine P. Rankin,Maya L. Henry,Miranda Babiak,Darvis T. Frazier,Iryna Lobach,Brianne M. Bettcher,Teresa Wu,Gil D. Rabinovici,Neill R. Graff-Radford,Bruce L. Miller,Maria Luisa Gorno-Tempini +12 more
TL;DR: This study suggests that neurodevelopmental signatures impart differential trajectories towards neurodegenerative disease, and learning disability might confer vulnerability of this network to early-onset, focal Alzheimer's pathology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distinct Subtypes of Behavioral Variant Frontotemporal Dementia Based on Patterns of Network Degeneration.
Kamalini G. Ranasinghe,Katherine P. Rankin,Peter Pressman,David C. Perry,Iryna Lobach,William W. Seeley,Giovanni Coppola,Anna Karydas,Lea T. Grinberg,Tal Shany-Ur,Suzee E. Lee,Gil D. Bettcher,Michael Neylan,Diana D. Zackey,Lauren A. Nguyen,Robin Ketelle,Nikolas Block,Teresa Wu,Alison Dallich,Natanya Russek,Alyssa Caplan,Daniel H. Geschwind,Keith A. Vossel,Bruce L. Miller +34 more
TL;DR: The data-driven anatomic classification identifies biologically meaningful anatomic phenotypes and provides a replicable approach to disambiguate the bvFTD syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuropsychological profiles of adults with Klinefelter syndrome.
Kyle B. Boone,Ronald S. Swerdloff,Bruce L. Miller,Daniel H. Geschwind,Jill Razani,Alison Lee,Irene T. Gaw Gonzalo,Anna Haddal,Katherine P. Rankin,Po Lu,Lynn K. Paul +10 more
TL;DR: Older age was significantly correlated with increases in VIQ relative to PIQ in the patient group, which suggests the intriguing possibility that the PIQ < VIQ subgroup primarily emerges in young adulthood, perhaps in response to the reported hormonal abnormalities detected in Klinefelter syndrome patients during puberty.
Journal ArticleDOI
Criminal Behavior in Frontotemporal Dementia and Alzheimer Disease.
Madeleine Liljegren,Georges Naasan,Julia Temlett,David C. Perry,Katherine P. Rankin,Jennifer Merrilees,Lea T. Grinberg,William W. Seeley,Elisabet Englund,Bruce L. Miller +9 more
TL;DR: Criminal behavior is more common in patients with bvFTD and semantic variant of primary progressive aphasia than in those with AD and is more likely to be an early manifestation of the disorder.
