Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of low energy helium irradiation on plasma facing metals
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of helium ion irradiation for tungsten and other metals have been extensively studied as functions of ion energy, temperature and fluence, for a wide range of burning plasma conditions, using not only ion accelerators, but also large-sized plasma confinement devices such as TRIAM-1M and LHD.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of high fluence mixed-species (deuterium, helium, beryllium) plasma interactions with tungsten
TL;DR: In this article, the authors simulate the conditions expected at W strike-points in an ITER all-w metal divertor scenario in the linear-plasma-device PISCES-B.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blister formation and deuterium retention on tungsten exposed to low energy and high flux deuterium plasma
Kazutoshi Tokunaga,M.J. Baldwin,R.P. Doerner,N. Noda,Yuusuke Kubota,N. Yoshida,Toshiaki Sogabe,Toshihiko Kato,B. Schedler +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the deuterium ion irradiation on tungsten has been carried out with incident energies of 100 eV and flux of 1.5 eV at a temperature in range between 333-K and 1130-K up to a dose of 1Õ×1026-D+m−m−2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of nanostructured tungsten based materials resistant to recrystallization and/or radiation induced embrittlement
Hiroaki Kurishita,H. Arakawa,S. Matsuo,Tatsuaki Sakamoto,Sengo Kobayashi,Kiyomichi Nakai,Gerald Pintsuk,Jochen Linke,Sadahiro Tsurekawa,V A Yardley,Kazutoshi Tokunaga,T. Takida,M. Katoh,A. Ikegaya,Yoshio Ueda,Masayoshi Kawai,Nobuaki Yoshida +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a sliding-based microstructural modification method was proposed to strengthen the random grain boundaries (GBs) in the recrystallized state of tungsten-based materials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Steady-state tokamak operation, ITB transition and sustainment and ECCD experiments in TRIAM-1M
Hideki Zushi,Kazuo Nakamura,Kazuaki Hanada,Kohnosuke Sato,Mizuki Sakamoto,Hiroshi Idei,Makoto Hasegawa,Atsuhiro Iyomasa,Shoji Kawasaki,Hisatoshi Nakashima,A. Higashijima,T. Kuramoto,A. Tanaka,Y. Nakamura,Takashi Fujimoto,Atsushi Iwamae,Takashi Maekawa,Osamu Mitarai +45 more
TL;DR: In this article, the formation and sustainment of an internal transport barrier (ITB) in enhanced current drive mode has been investigated by controlling the lower hybrid driven current profile by changing the phase spectrum.
