Journal ArticleDOI

Combinatorial approach for the design of new, simplified chiral phase-transfer catalysts with high catalytic performance for practical asymmetric synthesis of α-alkyl-α-amino acids

TL;DR: In this article, a chiral phase-transfer catalyst (S )- 2Db was proposed by taking advantage of the combinatorial approach from the known, easily available ( S )-1,1′-binaphthyl 2,2′-dicarboxylic acid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nucleophilic cleavages of acetals using organotitanium reagents. A new synthesis of chiral alcohols

TL;DR: In this paper, a highly chemo-and stereoselective cleavage of chiral acetals derived from (−)-(2R,4R)-2,4-pentanediol with organotitanium reagents has been demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Convenient preparation of chiral phase-transfer catalysts with conformationally fixed biphenyl core for catalytic asymmetric synthesis of α-alkyl- and α,α-dialkyl-α-amino acids: application to the short asymmetric synthesis of BIRT-377

TL;DR: In this article, a chiral phase-transfer (S)-1a, (S-1b), and (S)2 with conformationally fixed biphenyl cores were used for asymmetric alkylation of N-(diphenylmethylene)glycine tert-butyl ester with excellent enantioselectivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient photolytic C–H bond functionalization of alkylbenzene with hypervalent iodine(III) reagent

TL;DR: The photolysis of PIFA leads to the generation of trifluoroacetoxy radicals, which allows the smooth transformation of various alkylbenzenes to the corresponding benzyl ester compounds under mild reaction conditions.
