Journal ArticleDOI

Characteristic difference of hepatocellular carcinoma between hepatitis B‐ and C‐ viral infection in Japan

TL;DR: HCC was found at early stage among the patients receiving periodic medical checkups beforehand, and the prognosis of these HCC patients was significantly better than those who did not receive checkups, which means periodical screening naturally improves prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Outcomes of endoscopic submucosal dissection for colorectal epithelial neoplasms in 200 consecutive cases.

TL;DR: ESD is applicable in the colorectum with promising results, however, when considering the risks and benefits, piecemeal endoscopic resection or coloreCTal resection might be more appropriate for some subgroups of large flat neoplasms or those with submucosal fibrosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Virulence factors of Helicobacter pylori responsible for gastric diseases in Mongolian gerbil.

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of two genes, vacA and cagE, in the gastric pathogenesis induced by H. pylori using a long-term (62 wk) animal model was examined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Major virulence factors, VacA and CagA, are commonly positive in Helicobacter pylori isolates in Japan

TL;DR: Most H pylori isolates in Japan are positive for vacuolating cytotoxin and CagA, and thus these virulence factors cannot be used as markers to discern the risk of developing serious gastroduodenal pathologies in the hosts.
