Prostate-specific antigen in serum occurs predominantly in complex with alpha 1-antichymotrypsin.
Hans Lilja,Anders Christensson,Ulrika Dahlén,Marja-Terttu Matikainen,O. Nilsson,Kim Pettersson,T Lövgren +6 more
TL;DR: To characterize the PSA immunoreactivity in serum, monoclonal antibodies produced against PSA and a polyclonal rabbit IgG against alpha 1-antichymotrypsin were used in the design of three noncompetitive PSA assays and an immunoreactive 25- to 40-kDa compound was the minor fraction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Troponin I is released in bloodstream of patients with acute myocardial infarction not in free form but as complex
A. Katrukha,Anastasia V. Bereznikova,Tatiana V. Esakova,Kim Pettersson,Timo Lövgren,Maria E. Severina,Kari Pulkki,Liisa-Maria Vuopio-Pulkki,Nikolai B. Gusev +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the main part of cTnI in serum collected from acute myocardial infarction patients is presented in the complex from CTnC, which results in a significant decrease of the interaction of mAbs with TnI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biochemical markers of bone metabolism and prediction of fracture in elderly women.
Paul Gerdhem,Kaisa K. Ivaska,Sari L. Alatalo,Jussi M. Halleen,Jukka Hellman,Anders Isaksson,Kim Pettersson,H. Kalervo Väänänen,Kristina Åkesson,Karl Obrant +9 more
TL;DR: In elderly women, TRACP5b and urinary fragments of osteocalcin are promising new markers for prediction of fracture, in particular, vertebral fracture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Degradation of cardiac troponin I: implication for reliable immunodetection
A. Katrukha,Anastasia V. Bereznikova,Vladimir L. Filatov,Tatiana V. Esakova,Olga V. Kolosova,Kim Pettersson,Timo Lövgren,Bulargina Tv,Igor R. Trifonov,Nikolai A. Gratsiansky,Kari Pulkki,L.-M. Voipio-Pulkki,Nikolai B. Gusev +12 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the proteolytic degradation of cardiac troponin I in human necrotic tissue and in serum concludes that antibodies selected for cTnI sandwich immunoassays should preferentially recognize epitopes located in the region resistant to proteolysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
A supersensitive immunofluorometric assay for rat luteinizing hormone
Anne-Maarit Haavisto,Kim Pettersson,M Bergendahl,Antti Perheentupa,J F Roser,Ilpo Huhtaniemi +5 more
TL;DR: An immunofluorometric assay (IFMA) for rat (r) LH, which is based on two monoclonal antibodies, one to bovine and the other to human LH, is developed, which means that only IFMA is able to provide meaningful measurements of suppressed levels of serum LH.
