Journal ArticleDOI

Phylogeny and biogeography of Balsaminaceae inferred from ITS sequences

TL;DR: The ITS phylogenies reveal that extant Impatiens species are of Southeast Asian origin, from where dispersals to boreal Eurasia and North America, to central Asia and eastern Europe via the Himalayas, and to India and Africa have occurred.
Journal ArticleDOI

FLOWERING LOCUS C in monocots and the tandem origin of angiosperm-specific MADS-box genes.

TL;DR: Contrary to common belief, it is shown that FLC-like genes are present in cereals where they can also act as floral repressors responsive to prolonged cold or vernalization, which opens a new perspective on the translation of findings from Arabidopsis to cereal crops.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gamma Paleohexaploidy in the Stem Lineage of Core Eudicots: Significance for MADS-Box Gene and Species Diversification

TL;DR: In this article, the gamma triplication has been shown to have occurred before the divergence of Gunnerales but after the divergence of Buxales and Trochodendrales.

Research article Gamma Paleohexaploidy in the Stem Lineage of Core Eudicots: Significance for MADS-Box Gene and Species Diversification

TL;DR: Detailed phylogenies of subfamilies of MADS-box genes suggest that the gamma triplication has occurred before the divergence of Gunnerales but after the divergence of Buxales and Trochodendrales, and it is considered that the traits generated from this potential characterize extant core eudicots both chemically and morphologically.
