The Value of Ecosystem Services from Giant Panda Reserves
Fuwen Wei,Robert Costanza,Qiang Dai,Natalie Stoeckl,Xiaodong Gu,Stephen Farber,Yonggang Nie,Ida Kubiszewski,Yibo Hu,Ronald R. Swaisgood,Xuyu Yang,Michael William Bruford,Youping Chen,Alexey Voinov,Dunwu Qi,Megan A. Owen,Li Yan,Daniel C. Kenny,Zejun Zhang,Rong Hou,Shiwei Jiang,Hongbo Liu,Xiangjiang Zhan,Li Zhang,Biao Yang,Lianjun Zhao,Xiaoguang Zheng,Wenliang Zhou,Yali Wen,Heran Gao,Wen Zhang +30 more
TL;DR: The value of ecosystem services of the panda and its reserves is estimated to be between US$2.6 and US$6.9 billion/year in 2010, potentially further motivating expansion of the reserves and other investments in natural capital in China.
Journal ArticleDOI
What are the benefits of strictly protected nature reserves? Rapid assessment of ecosystem service values in Wanglang Nature Reserve, China
TL;DR: In this article, the authors quantified differences in ecosystem services provision of two alternative conservation management approaches in a strictly protected nature reserve in China based on (1) existing strict regulations versus (2) extrapolation of those in an adjacent Natural Forest Protection Project (NFPP) allowing the use of natural resources by local communities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal variation of water-use efficiency and water sources of Phragmites australis in the coastal wetland: Based on stable isotopic composition (δ13C and δ18O)
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated water sources and water sources used by Phragmites australis in the Yellow River Delta employing stable isotopic composition indicators to uncover temporal variation in plant water-use strategies in the coastal wetland.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mesoscopic Failure Behavior of Strip Footing on Geosynthetic-Reinforced Granular Soil Foundations Using PIV Technology
TL;DR: In this article , the failure behavior of strip footing on geosynthetic-reinforced granular soil foundations on a mesoscale was studied using two-dimensional model tests combined with PIV technology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-time stable and high-performance YBa2Cu3O7 nanoSQUIDs with more interfaces
TL;DR: In this article , the authors report on the fabrication and characterization of nanopatterned superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) based on grain boundary Josephson junctions in epitaxially grown multilayer YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO)/SiTrO3 (STO) thin films.
