Journal ArticleDOI
Landscapes of bacterial and metabolic signatures and their interaction in major depressive disorders.
Jian Yang,Peng Zheng,Yifan Li,Jing Wu,Xunmin Tan,Jingjing Zhou,Zuoli Sun,Xu Chen,Guofu Zhang,Hanping Zhang,Yu Huang,Tingjia Chai,Jiajia Duan,Weiwei Liang,Bangmin Yin,Jianbo Lai,Tingting Huang,Yanli Du,Peifen Zhang,Jiajun Jiang,Caixi Xi,Lingling Wu,Jing Lu,Tingting Mou,Yi Xu,Seth W. Perry,Seth W. Perry,Ma-Li Wong,Ma-Li Wong,Julio Licinio,Julio Licinio,Shaohua Hu,Gang Wang,Peng Xie +33 more
TL;DR: Using whole-genome shotgun metagenomic and untargeted metabolomic methods, a combinatorial marker panel is identified that robustly discriminated MDD from HC individuals in both the discovery and validation sets, providing a deep insight into understanding of the roles of disturbed gut ecosystem in MDD.
Journal ArticleDOI
First report of manic-like symptoms in a COVID-19 patient with no previous history of a psychiatric disorder.
Shaojia Lu,Ning Wei,Jiajun Jiang,Lingling Wu,Jifang Sheng,Jianying Zhou,Qiang Fang,Yu Chen,Shufa Zheng,Feng Chen,Tingbo Liang,Shaohua Hu +11 more
TL;DR: This first case of COVID-19 patient with manic-like symptoms highlights the importance of evaluation of mental health status and may contribute to the understanding of potential risk of CNS impairments by SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multi-omics analyses of serum metabolome, gut microbiome and brain function reveal dysregulated microbiota-gut-brain axis in bipolar depression
Zhiming Li,Jianbo Lai,Peifen Zhang,Jiahong Ding,Jiajun Jiang,Chuanfa Liu,Huimin Huang,Hefu Zhen,Caixi Xi,Yuzhe Sun,Lingling Wu,Lifang Wang,Xingle Gao,Yan Li,Yaoyang Fu,Zhuye Jie,Shenghui Li,Danhua Zhang,Yiqing Chen,Yiyi Zhu,Shaojia Lu,Jing Lu,Dandan Wang,Hetong Zhou,Xiu-bai Yuan,Xue Lin,Lijuan Pang,Manli Huang,Huanming Yang,Wenwei Zhang,Susanne Brix,Karsten Kristiansen,Xueqin Song,Chao Nie,Shaohua Hu +34 more
TL;DR: This study combines gut microbiota and neuroactive metabolites with brain functional connectivity with neuroimaging studies to reveal potential signalling pathways from the microbiota to the gut and the brain, which may have a role in the pathophysiology of BD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gut microbial clues to bipolar disorder: State-of-the-art review of current findings and future directions.
Jianbo Lai,Jiajun Jiang,Peifen Zhang,Caixi Xi,Lingling Wu,Xingle Gao,Danhua Zhang,Yanli Du,Qunxiao Li,Xiangyuan Diao,Shaojia Lu,Zheng Wang,Xueqin Song,Shaohua Hu +13 more
TL;DR: The concept of MGB axis is introduced, previous findings in human studies associated with bipolar disorder are focused on, and a research framework linking gut microbiome to determinants and health‐related outcomes in BD is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Abnormal functional connectivity within the reward network: a potential neuroimaging endophenotype of bipolar disorder.
Caixi Xi,Jianbo Lai,Yanli Du,Chee H. Ng,Jiajun Jiang,Lingling Wu,Peifen Zhang,Yi Xu,Shaohua Hu +8 more
TL;DR: Findings indicated that elevated NAcc/vmPFC-right AIC connectivity within the reward circuit could be a neuroimaging endophenotype of BD.
