Journal ArticleDOI

Terminal decline of episodic memory and perceptual speed in a biracial population.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the rate of cognitive decline during the terminal period is less rapid in Black persons than in White persons and rate of perceptual speed decline was more rapid in White Persons than in Blacks in both the preterminal and terminal periods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Antidepressant Medication Use and Social Engagement on the Level of Depressive Symptoms in Community-Dwelling, Older African Americans and Whites With Dementia.

TL;DR: Depression management at the time of dementia diagnosis should probably be directed toward increasing social engagement in older adults, according to this study.
Journal ArticleDOI

Abstract 066: A Healthy Plant-based Diet Was Associated With Slower Cognitive Decline In African Americans: A Biracial Community-based Cohort Of Older Adults

TL;DR: A healthy plant-based diet was associated with a slower rate of decline in global cognition, perceptual speed, and episodic memory in AAs, and this results are informative in facilitating the development of tailored dietary recommendations for the prevention of cognitive decline in diverse populations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of Early Life Socioeconomic Status on Decision Making in Older Adults Without Dementia.

TL;DR: The authors investigated the association of early life socioeconomic status (SES) with decision making in a large community-based cohort of older adults without dementia from the Rush Memory and Aging Project.
Journal ArticleDOI

Latent Profile Analysis of Cognition in a Non-Demented Diverse Cohort: A Focus on Modifiable Cardiovascular and Lifestyle Factors.

TL;DR: In this paper, Latent profile analyses (LPA) employed six cognitive scores (letter fluency, letter-number sequencing, confrontational naming, 'animal' fluency and list-learning delayed recall, and recognition discriminability) to characterize cognitively defined subgroups.
