Prone Positioning in Severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Claude Guérin,Jean Reignier,Jean-Christophe Richard,Pascal Beuret,Arnaud Gacouin,Thierry Boulain,Emmanuelle Mercier,Michel Badet,Alain Mercat,Olivier Baudin,Marc Clavel,Delphine Chatellier,Samir Jaber,Sylvène Rosselli,Jordi Mancebo,Michel Sirodot,Gilles Hilbert,Christian Bengler,Jack Richecoeur,Marc Gainnier,Frédérique Bayle,Gael Bourdin,Véronique Leray,Raphaële Girard,Loredana Baboi,Louis Ayzac +25 more
TL;DR: In patients with severe ARDS, early application of prolonged prone-positioning sessions significantly decreased 28-day and 90-day mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enteral versus parenteral early nutrition in ventilated adults with shock: a randomised, controlled, multicentre, open-label, parallel-group study (NUTRIREA-2)
Jean Reignier,Julie Boisramé-Helms,L. TL;DR: In critically ill adults with shock, early isocaloric enteral nutrition did not reduce mortality or the risk of secondary infections but was associated with a greater risk of digestive complications compared with early isocallyoric parenteral nutrition.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective international observational prevalence study on prone positioning of ARDS patients: the APRONET (ARDS Prone Position Network) study
Claude Guérin,Pascal Beuret,J.-M. Constantin,Giacomo Bellani,P Garcia-Olivares,Oriol Roca,Oriol Roca,John H. J. M. Meertens,P Azevedo Maia,Tobias Becher,J Peterson,J Peterson,Anders Larsson,Anders Larsson,M Gurjar,Z Hajjej,F Kovari,A H Assiri,E Mainas,Mohd Shahnaz Hasan,D R Morocho-Tutillo,Loredana Baboi,J. M. Chretien,G François,Louis Ayzac,Lu Chen,Laurent Brochard,Alain Mercat +27 more
TL;DR: This prospective international prevalence study found that PP was used in 32.9% of patients with severe ARDS, and was associated with low complication rates, significant increase in oxygenation and a significant decrease in driving pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of patient positioning on pressure ulcers in patients with severe ARDS: results from a multicentre randomised controlled trial on prone positioning
TL;DR: In patients with severe ARDS, prone positioning was associated with a higher frequency of pressure ulcer than the supine position and, therefore, survivors who received this intervention had a greater likelihood of having pressure ulcers documented as part of their follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prone position-induced improvement in gas exchange does not predict improved survival in the acute respiratory distress syndrome.
TL;DR: It is reported that prone ventilation for an average of 16 h/d improved oxygenation and reduced the mortality of patients with ARDS by 50% and the improvements in gas exchange they observed predicted survival.
