Initiation Strategies for Renal-Replacement Therapy in the Intensive Care Unit
Stéphane Gaudry,David Hajage,Frédérique Schortgen,Laurent Martin-Lefevre,Bertrand Pons,Eric Boulet,Alexandre Boyer,Guillaume Chevrel,Nicolas Lerolle,Dorothée Carpentier,Nicolas de Prost,Alexandre Lautrette,Anne Bretagnol,Julien Mayaux,Saad Nseir,Bruno Mégarbane,Marina Thirion,Jean-Marie Forel,Julien Maizel,Hodane Yonis,Philippe Markowicz,Guillaume Thiery,Florence Tubach,Jean-Damien Ricard,Didier Dreyfuss +24 more
TL;DR: In a trial involving critically ill patients with severe acute kidney injury, a delayed strategy averted the need for renal-replacement therapy in an appreciable number of patients and found no significant difference with regard to mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enteral versus parenteral early nutrition in ventilated adults with shock: a randomised, controlled, multicentre, open-label, parallel-group study (NUTRIREA-2)
Jean Reignier,Julie Boisramé-Helms,L. Brisard,Jean-Baptiste Lascarrou,Ali Ait Hssain,Nadia Anguel,Laurent Argaud,Karim Asehnoune,Pierre Asfar,Frédéric Bellec,Vlad Botoc,Anne Bretagnol,Hoang-Nam Bui,Emmanuel Canet,Daniel da Silva,Michael Darmon,Vincent Das,Jérôme Devaquet,Michel Djibré,Frédérique Ganster,Maité Garrouste-Orgeas,Stéphane Gaudry,Olivier Gontier,Claude Guérin,Bertrand Guidet,Christophe Guitton,Jean-Etienne Herbrecht,Jean-Claude Lacherade,Philippe Letocart,Frédéric Martino,Virginie Maxime,Emmanuelle Mercier,Jean-Paul Mira,Saad Nseir,Gaël Piton,Jean-Pierre Quenot,Jack Richecoeur,Jean-Philippe Rigaud,René Robert,Nathalie Rolin,Carole Schwebel,Michel Sirodot,François Tinturier,Didier Thevenin,Bruno Giraudeau,Amélie Le Gouge,Amélie Le Gouge,Hervé Dupont,Marc Pierrot,François Beloncle,Danièle Combaux,Romain Mercier,Hadrien Winiszewski,Gilles Capellier,Gilles Hilbert,Didier Gruson,Pierre Kalfon,Bertrand Souweine,Elizabeth Coupez,Jean-Damien Ricard,Jonathan Messika,François Bougerol,Pierre-Louis Declercq,Auguste Dargent,Audrey Large,Djillali Annane,Bernard Clair,Agnès Bonadona,Rebecca Hamidfar,Christian Richard,Mathieu Henry-Lagarrigue,Ahiem Yehia Yehia,Johanna Temime,Stephanie Barrailler,Raphael Favory,Erika Parmentier-Decrucq,Mercé Jourdain,Loredana Baboi,Marie Simon,Thomas Baudry,Mehran Monchi,Jérôme Roustan,Patrick Bardou,Alice Cottereau,Philippe Guiot,Noelle Brule,Mickael Landais,Antoine Roquilly,Thierry Boulain,Dalila Benzekri,Benoit Champigneulle,Jalel Tahiri,Gabriel Preda,Benoit Misset,Virginie Lemiale,Lara Zafrani,Muriel Fartoukh,Guillaume Thiery,Delphine Chatellier,Rémi Coudroy,Renaud Chouquer,Christine Brasse,Arnaud Delahaye,Luís Carlos de Souza Ferreira,Régine Vermesch,Stéphanie Chevalier,Charlotte Quentin,Quentin Maestraggi,Francis Schneider,Ferhat Meziani,Charles Cerf,Grégoire Trebbia,Charlotte Salmon-Gandonnière,Laetitia Bodet-Contentin +113 more
TL;DR: In critically ill adults with shock, early isocaloric enteral nutrition did not reduce mortality or the risk of secondary infections but was associated with a greater risk of digestive complications compared with early isocallyoric parenteral nutrition.
Journal ArticleDOI
The ICU trial: a new admission policy for cancer patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
TL;DR: If these results are confirmed in future interventional studies, it is recommended ICU admission with full-code management followed by reappraisal of the level of care on day 6 in all nonbedridden cancer patients for whom lifespan-extending cancer treatment is available.
Journal ArticleDOI
The prognosis of acute respiratory failure in critically ill cancer patients.
Elie Azoulay,Guillaume Thiery,Sylvie Chevret,Delphine Moreau,Michael Darmon,Anne Bergeron,Kun Yang,Véronique Meignin,Magali Ciroldi,Jean-Roger Le Gall,Abdellatif Tazi,Benoît Schlemmer +11 more
TL;DR: Survival gains achieved in critically ill cancer patients in recent years extend to patients requiring ventilatory assistance, and the impact of conventional mechanical ventilation on survival depends on the time from ICU admission to conventional Mechanical ventilation and on the patient's response to noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outcome of Cancer Patients Considered for Intensive Care Unit Admission: A Hospital-Wide Prospective Study
Guillaume Thiery,Elie Azoulay,Michael Darmon,Magali Ciroldi,Sandra de Miranda,Vincent Levy,Fabienne Fieux,Delphine Moreau,Jean Roger Le Gall,Benoît Schlemmer +9 more
TL;DR: Both the excess mortality intoo-well patients later admitted to the ICU and the relatively good survival in too-sick patients suggest the need for a broader admission policy.
