Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical and Biological Evaluation of Essential Oils from Cardamom Species
Emira Noumi,Emira Noumi,Mejdi Snoussi,Mejdi Snoussi,Mousa M Alreshidi,Punchappady-Devasya Rekha,K. Saptami,Lucia Caputo,Laura De Martino,Lucéia Fátima Souza,Kamel Msaada,Emilia Mancini,Guido Flamini,Abdulbasit I. Al-Sieni,Vincenzo De Feo +14 more
TL;DR: The tested essential oils and their main component (1,8-cineole) significantly increased the production of elastase and protease production, and motility in P. aeruginosa PAO1 in a dose dependent manner and showed significant antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms tested especially the fungal strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coriandrum sativum and Lavandula angustifolia Essential Oils: Chemical Composition and Activity on Central Nervous System.
Lucia Caputo,Lucéia Fátima Souza,Lucéia Fátima Souza,Susanna Alloisio,Laura Cornara,Vincenzo De Feo +5 more
TL;DR: The aims of this study are to determine the chemical composition of Lavandula angustifolia Mill.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pereskia aculeata Muller (Cactaceae) Leaves: Chemical Composition and Biological Activities
Lucéia Fátima Souza,Lucéia Fátima Souza,Lucia Caputo,Ingrid Bergman Inchausti De Barros,Florinda Fratianni,Filomena Nazzaro,Vincenzo De Feo +6 more
TL;DR: The phenolic content, antioxidant activity, and in vitro antimicrobial and antifungal activities were determined and the possible cytotoxicity of extracts on neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cancer cell line and the influence on adenylate cyclase expression was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical Composition, Antibacterial and Phytotoxic Activities of Peganum harmala Seed Essential Oils from Five Different Localities in Northern Africa.
Ida Apostolico,Luigi Aliberti,Lucia Caputo,Vincenzo De Feo,Florinda Fratianni,Filomena Nazzaro,Lucéia Fátima Souza,Lucéia Fátima Souza,Maroua Khadhr +8 more
TL;DR: The results showed that both germination and radical elongation were sensitive to the oils, and there are possible new botanical drugs because the problem of resistance to antimicrobial drugs has become apparent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical Composition and in Vitro Antimicrobial, Cytotoxic, and Central Nervous System Activities of the Essential Oils of Citrus medica L. cv. 'Liscia' and C. medica cv. 'Rugosa' Cultivated in Southern Italy.
Luigi Aliberti,Lucia Caputo,Vincenzo De Feo,Laura De Martino,Filomena Nazzaro,Lucéia Fátima Souza,Lucéia Fátima Souza +6 more
TL;DR: The antimicrobial activity of the essential oils of citron cultivars confirmed their traditional uses as food preserving agents and led us to hypothesize the possible use of these oils as antimicrobials.
