Spider trait assembly patterns and resilience under fire-induced vegetation change in South Brazilian grasslands.

TL;DR: Fire triggered changes in vegetation structure that lead both to trait-convergence and trait-divergence assembly patterns of spiders along gradients of plant biomass and functional diversity, showing that functional traits provide a mechanistic understanding of the response of communities to environmental change, especially when more than one trophic level is considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dismantling Brazil's science threatens global biodiversity heritage

G. Wilson Fernandes, +53 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyze the consequences of such cuts on the Research Program on Biodiversity (PPBio), the largest biodiversity research network in Brazil (626 researchers, nine networks in all Brazilian biomes).
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term ecological research in southern Brazil grasslands: Effects of grazing exclusion and deferred grazing on plant and arthropod communities

TL;DR: The results indicate that decision-making regarding the conservation of southern Brazil grasslands should include both intensive and alleviated levels of grazing management, but not complete grazing exclusion, to maximize conservation results when considering plant and arthropod communities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Araneofauna (Arachnida; Araneae) do Parque Estadual do Turvo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil

TL;DR: The spider richness registered in this survey is the greatest observed for Rio Grande do Sul, and the second greatest for Brazil, and shows the importance of this ecosystem for biodiversity conservation in Brazil.
