The structure of the presenilin 1 (S182) gene and identification of six novel mutations in early onset AD families
Robert Clark,Mike Hutton,Rebecca A. Fuldner,Sue Froelich,Eric Karran,Christopher Talbot,Richard Crook,Corinne Lendon,Guy Prihar,C He,Kevin M. Korenblat,Alonso Martínez,Alonso Martínez,Michelle Wragg,F. Busfield,Maria I. Behrens,Amanda J. Myers,Joanne Norton,John C. Morris,N Mehta,Chad G. Pearson,Sarah Lincoln,M Baker,Karen Duff,C Zehr,Jordi Pérez-Tur,Harry Houlden,Adriana Ruiz,Jorge Ossa,Francisco Lopera,M. Arcos,Lucia Madrigal,John Collinge,C Humphreys,T Ashworth,S Sarner,Nick C. Rossor,George Roberts,Mark Raymond Adams,John Hardy,Alison Goate +63 more
TL;DR: This work has localized the PS-1 gene to a 75 kb region and present the structure of this gene, evidence for alternative splicing and describe six novel mutations in early onset FAD pedigrees all of which alter residues conserved in the STM26 (Presenilin 2: PS-2) gene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuropsychological Profile of a Large Kindred with Familial Alzheimer's Disease Caused by the E280A Single Presenilin-1 Mutation
Alfredo Ardila,Francisco Lopera,Monica Rosselli,Sonia Moreno,Lucia Madrigal,Juan Carlos Arango-Lasprilla,M. Arcos,Clara Murcia,Juan Carlos Arango-Viana,Jorge Ossa,Alison Goate,Kenneth S. Kosik +11 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis that memory complaints represent the earliest symptom of familial Alzheimer's disease was supported and minor cognitive impairments were found, particularly, mild anomia, concentration difficulties and defects in the understanding of complex verbal material.
Journal ArticleDOI
E280A PS-1 mutation causes Alzheimer's disease but age of onset is not modified by ApoE alleles
Corinne Lendon,Alonso Martínez,Alonso Martínez,Isabel Maria Behrens,Kenneth S. Kosik,Lucia Madrigal,Joanne Norton,Rosalind J. Neuman,Amanda J. Myers,Frances Busfield,Michelle Wragg,M. Arcos,Juan Carlos Arango Viana,Jorge Ossa,Andrés Ruiz,Alison Goate,Francisco Lopera +16 more
TL;DR: The presence of a single mutation and the common geographic origin, with all families from the state of Antioquia, suggest a founder effect in this population of early‐onset Alzheimer's disease cases, supported by the observation of a rare haplotype inherited with AD in all kindreds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Presenilin-1–associated abnormalities in regional cerebral perfusion
Keith A. Johnson,Francisco Lopera,Kenneth J. Jones,Alex Becker,Reisa A. Sperling,J. Hilson,Jorge Ossa Londoño,I. Siegert,M. Arcos,Sonia Moreno,Lucia Madrigal,Jorge Ossa,Nicolás Pineda,Alfredo Ardila,MM Roselli,Marilyn S. Albert,K. S. Kosik,A. Rios +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the presenilin-1 gene (PS-1 ) mutation on regional cerebral perfusion was evaluated in 57 individuals with early onset AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
A system of multidimensional behavior assessment. A scale for parents of children from 6 to 11 years of age. Colombian version
David Pineda,Randy W. Kamphaus,Mora O,Restrepo Ma,Puerta Ic,Palacio Lg,Jiménez I,Silvia Mejia,M. Garcia,Arango Jc,Jiménez Me,Francisco Lopera,Mark Raymond Adams,M. Arcos,Velásquez Jf,Lina María Rendón López,Bartolino Ne,Margarita Giraldo,Antonio G. García,Claudia Valencia,Vallejo Le,Holguín Ja +21 more
TL;DR: BASC PRS (6-11) showed reliability and validity to assessing the behavior in Spanish speaking Colombian children and was found to be useful in the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder.
