Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of the petrologic type of CV3 chondrites by Raman spectroscopy of included organic matter
TL;DR: In this paper, the maturity of the organic matter in matrix, determined by Raman spectroscopy, has been used as a powerful metamorphic tracer, independent of the mineralogical context and extent of aqueous alteration.
Journal ArticleDOI
A collection of diverse micrometeorites recovered from 100 tonnes of Antarctic blue ice
M. Maurette,C. T. Olinger,C. T. Olinger,M. Christophe Michel-Levy,Gero Kurat,M. Pourchet,Franz Brandstätter,M. Bourot-Denise +7 more
TL;DR: A new type of meteoritic material, intermediate in size between meteorites and interplanetary dust particles (IDPs), is described in this paper, which is a new family of solar system objects in a mass range corresponding to the bulk of extraterrestrial material accreted by the earth today.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetic classification of stony meteorites: 2. Non-ordinary chondrites
Pierre Rochette,Jérôme Gattacceca,Lydie Bonal,M. Bourot-Denise,Vincent Chevrier,Jean-Pierre Clerc,G. J. Consolmagno,Luigi Folco,Matthieu Gounelle,Tomas Kohout,Lauri J. Pesonen,Eric Quirico,Leonardo Sagnotti,Anna Ya Skripnik +13 more
TL;DR: A database of magnetic susceptibility measurements on different non-ordinary chondrites (C, E, R, and ungrouped) populations is presented and compared to our previous similar work on ordinary chondites as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Paris meteorite, the least altered CM chondrite so far
Roger H. Hewins,Roger H. Hewins,M. Bourot-Denise,Brigitte Zanda,Hugues Leroux,Jean-Alix Barrat,Munir Humayun,Christa Göpel,Richard C. Greenwood,Ian A. Franchi,Sylvain Pont,Jean-Pierre Lorand,C. Cournede,Jérôme Gattacceca,Pierre Rochette,Maïa Kuga,Yves Marrocchi,Bernard Marty +17 more
TL;DR: The Paris chondrite as discussed by the authors provides an excellent opportunity to study CM chondrules and refractory inclusions in a more pristine state than currently possible from other CMs, and to investigate the earliest stages of aqueous alteration captured within a single CM bulk composition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Organic matter and metamorphic history of CO chondrites
TL;DR: In this article, the structural grade of the organic matter trapped in the matrix, which is irreversibly transformed by thermal metamorphism, has been quantified using a geothermometer calibrated with terrestrial metasediments.
