L. Castens,G. Monteduro,M. Marmelo,Jérôme Steinhauser,Julien Bailat,J. Hötzel,Ulrich Kroll,Johannes Meier,E. Vallat,Daniel Borrello,S. Benagli +10 more
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Recent Developments of High Efficiency Micromorph tandem solar cells in KAI-M PECVD reactors
Julien Bailat,L. Fesquet,J.-B. Orhan,B. Wolf,P.-A. Madliger,Jérôme Steinhauser,S. Benagli,Daniel Borrello,L. Castens,G. Monteduro,M. Marmelo,B. Dehbozorghi,Evelyne Vallat-Sauvain,X. Multone,D. Romang,J.-F. Boucher,Johannes Meier,Ulrich Kroll,Matthieu Despeisse,Grégory Bugnon,Christophe Ballif,Sasha Marjanovic,Glenn Eric Kohnke,N. Borrelli,Karl W. Koch,Jiang Liu,R. Modavis,D. Thelen,S. Vallon,A. Zakharian,D. Weidman +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, three independent approaches to improving the performance of Micromorph® tandem solar cells are presented. But none of these methods can achieve the state-of-the-art performance of the current state of the art for thin film silicon solar cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Triple-junction amorphous/microcrystalline silicon solar cells: Towards industrially viable thin film solar technology
X. Multone,L. Fesquet,Daniel Borrello,D. Romang,G. Choong,Evelyne Vallat-Sauvain,M. Charrière,A. Billet,J.-F. Boucher,Jérôme Steinhauser,J.-B. Orhan,R. Monnard,J.-P. Cardoso,G. Charitat,B. Dehbozorgi,N. Guillot,G. Monteduro,M. Marmelo,R. Semenzi,S. Benagli,Johannes Meier +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, a first draft of novel rather flat scattering superstrates with an optimized high bandgap amorphous silicon top cell including a carbon-free buffer at the p/i interface is presented, and careful optimization of the interfaces (including suboxide doped layers and buffers) and of the bulk crystallinity of the middle and bottom microcrystalline subcells allowed to reach a stabilized efficiency of 13.5 % (after 1000h light-soaking, internal measurement).
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving low pressure chemical vapor deposited zinc oxide contacts for thin film silicon solar cells by using rough glass substrates
Jérôme Steinhauser,J.-F. Boucher,E. Omnes,Daniel Borrello,Evelyne Vallat-Sauvain,G. Monteduro,M. Marmelo,J.-B. Orhan,B. Wolf,Julien Bailat,S. Benagli,Johannes Meier,Ulrich Kroll +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, rough etched glass substrates were used to decrease the sheet resistance of zinc oxide layers grown on it and showed improved light trapping potential compared to ZnO films grown on flat glass.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advanced light management in Micromorph solar cells
L. Castens,Julien Bailat,S. Benagli,J. Hötzel,D. Borello,Jérôme Steinhauser,B. Dehbozorgi,J. Spitznagel,Y. Djeridane,P-A. Madliger,G. Monteduro,M. Marmelo,G. Androutsopoulos,Evelyne Vallat-Sauvain,Ulrich Kroll,Johannes Meier +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of the transparent conductive oxide (TCO) layer roughness on the reflection spectrum of the SiC tandem cells is studied. But the authors focus on the impact of the intermediate reflector on the performance of SiC.
