Journal ArticleDOI

Large scale validation of the M5L lung CAD on heterogeneous CT datasets

TL;DR: M5L results do not deteriorate when increasing the dataset size, making it a candidate for supporting radiologists on large scale screenings and clinical programs, and the development of a dedicated module for GGOs detection could further improve it.
Journal ArticleDOI

A cloud-based computer-aided detection system improves identification of lung nodules on computed tomography scans of patients with extra-thoracic malignancies

TL;DR: In patients with extra-thoracic malignancies, CAD-assisted reading improves detection of ≥ 3-mm lung nodules on CT, slightly increasing reading time, and cloud-based CAD systems may represent a cost-effective solution since CAD results can be reviewed while a separated cloud back-end is taking care of computations.
Book ChapterDOI

M5L: A web-based Computer Aided Detection system for automated search of lung nodules in thoracic Computed Tomography scans

TL;DR: The project has proposed a Cloud SaaS (Software as a Service) approach composed by three main building blocks: a front-end web which handles the workflow, image upload, CAD results notification and direct on-line annotation of the exam by the radiologist.
