TL;DR: The prevalence of COPD in this region seems to be lower than that reported in industrialised countries, and under-reporting and risk factors other than smoking may contribute to this difference.

TL;DR: Overall, awareness of COPD in the region is suboptimal and treatment expectations are undervalued, and better patient education and more effective patient-physician communication are clearly required.
