Atrogin-1 and MuRF1 regulate cardiac MyBP-C levels via different mechanisms
Giulia Mearini,Christina Gedicke,Saskia Schlossarek,Christian C. Witt,Elisabeth Krämer,Peirang Cao,Marcelo D. Gomes,Stewart H. Lecker,Siegfried Labeit,Monte S. Willis,Thomas Eschenhagen,Lucie Carrier,Lucie Carrier,Lucie Carrier +13 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that atrogin-1 specifically targets truncated M7t-cMyBP-C, but not WT-c myosin heavy chains, for proteasomal degradation and that MuRF1 indirectly reduces cMy BP-C levels by regulating the transcription of MHC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural features that make oligopeptides susceptible substrates for hydrolysis by recombinant thimet oligopeptidase
Antonio C.M. Camargo,Marcelo D. Gomes,Antonia P. Reichl,Emer S. Ferro,Saul Jacchieri,Isaura Y. Hirata,Luiz Juliano +6 more
TL;DR: A systematic analysis of the peptide sequences and lengths of several homologues of bioactive peptides and of a number of quenched-fluorescence (qf) opioid- and bradykinin-related peptides revealed that a minimum substrate length of six amino acids is required and that among the oligopeptides six to thirteen amino acid residues long, their susceptibility as substrates is highly variable.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time course of skeletal muscle loss and oxidative stress in rats with Walker 256 solid tumor.
Flávia Alessandra Guarnier,Alessandra Lourenço Cecchini,Andréia Akemi Suzukawa,Ana Leticia Maragno,Andréa Name Colado Simão,Marcelo D. Gomes,Rubens Cecchini +6 more
TL;DR: Increased muscle wasting, lipid hydroperoxide, and superoxide dismutase, and decreased glutathione levels and total radical antioxidant capacity, were found on D5 in accordance with increased mRNA atrogin‐1 expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Testosterone represses ubiquitin ligases atrogin-1 and Murf-1 expression in an androgen-sensitive rat skeletal muscle in vivo
Marcelo Pires-Oliveira,Ana Leticia Maragno,Lucas T. Parreiras-e-Silva,Tiago Chiavegatti,Marcelo D. Gomes,Rosely Oliveira Godinho +5 more
TL;DR: It is shown that perineal muscle LA is a suitable in vivo model to evaluate regulation of muscle proteolysis, closely resembling human muscle responsiveness to androgens, and that inhibition of ubiquitin-proteasome catabolic system is critical for trophic action of androgens in skeletal muscle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular characterization of the Aspergillus nidulans fbxA encoding an F-box protein involved in xylanase induction
Ana Cristina Colabardini,Ana Carolina Humanes,Paula Fagundes de Gouvêa,Marcela Savoldi,Maria Helena S. Goldman,Marcia Regina von Zeska Kress,Özgür Bayram,Juliana Velasco de Castro Oliveira,Marcelo D. Gomes,Gerhard H. Braus,Gustavo H. Goldman,Gustavo H. Goldman +11 more
TL;DR: The identification of FbxA is a novel protein containing a functional F-box domain that binds to Skp1 from the SCF-type ligase that provides another layer of complexity to xylanase induction and CCR phenomena in filamentous fungi.
