Nagler,Ionut Nistor,Sabine N. van der Veer,Wim Van Biesen +23 more
TL;DR: A guideline on the management of patients with diabetes and CKD stage 3b or higher (eGFR <45 mL/min) was needed and timely because of a paucity of well-designed, prospective studies in this population.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Low-dose aspirin does not prevent thrombovascular accidents in low-risk haemodialysis patients during treatment with recombinant human erythropoietin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibiotic resistance of urinary tract pathogens and rationale for empirical intravenous therapy.
TL;DR: It is concluded that an empirical combination treatment of ampicillin and gentamicin, netilmicin, or tobramycin is appropriate in children with UTI independent of pre-treatment or underlying disease and should prevent unnecessary development of antimicrobial resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping of gene loci for nephronophthisis type 4 and Senior-Løken syndrome, to chromosome 1p36.

TL;DR: In one family with NPHP4, extensive genealogical studies were conducted, revealing consanguinity during the 17th century, and on the basis of haplotype sharing by descent, a multipoint Z(max) of 5.8 was obtained in this kindred alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Confirmation of the ATP6B1 gene as responsible for distal renal tubular acidosis.
Rainer G. Ruf,Cornelia Rensing,Rezan Topaloglu,Lisa M. Guay-Woodford,Cornelia Klein,Martin Vollmer,Edgar A. Weber,Friedhelm Hildebrandt,Friedhelm Hildebrandt +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed a total genome scan with 303 polymorphic microsatellite markers in six consanguineous families with recessive primary distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA) type I from Turkey.
