Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of vitamin D supplementation on the calcium–phosphate balance in renal transplant patients

TL;DR: Serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D levels were significantly higher and parathyroid hormone levels were lower in treated patients compared to controls one year following transplant, and cholecalciferol treatment significantly increased serum 25- Hydroxy vitamin D and decreased parathyro hormone levels with no adverse effects in 25-Hydroxyitamin D-deficient renal transplant patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of the best method to estimate glomerular filtration rate from serum creatinine in adult patients with sickle cell disease: a prospective observational cohort study

TL;DR: In non-Afro-American SCD patients, the best method for estimating GFR from serum creatinine is the CKD-EPI equation without adjustment for ethnicity, which is particularly accurate to estimate high GFR values, including glomerular hyperfiltration, and thus should be recommended to screen SCD adult patients at high risk for SCD nephropathy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Actualité sur les effets de la vitamine D et l’évaluation du statut vitaminique D

TL;DR: Vitamin D insufficiency is highly frequent whereas the currently recommended supplementation doses are not sufficient, and many experts have claimed that the population-based reference values for 25OHD are too low.
