Low serum levels of alkaline phosphatase of bone origin: a good marker of adynamic bone disease in haemodialysis patients
Marie M. Couttenye,Patrick C. D'Haese,V O Van Hoof,E. Lemoniatou,William G. Goodman,Gert A. Verpooten,M. E. De Broe +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that bone alkaline phosphatase, the closer physiological link with osteoblast function and the lesser expense for its determination, is a useful tool in the noninvasive diagnosis of the adynamic type of bone disease in the individual patient.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dendritic cell vaccination as postremission treatment to prevent or delay relapse in acute myeloid leukemia
Sébastien Anguille,Ann Van de Velde,Evelien Smits,Viggo Van Tendeloo,Gunnar Juliusson,Nathalie Cools,Griet Nijs,Barbara Stein,Eva Lion,Ann Van Driessche,Irma Vandenbosch,Anke Verlinden,Alain Gadisseur,Wilfried Schroyens,Ludo Muylle,Katrien Vermeulen,Marie Berthe Maes,Kathleen Deiteren,Ronald Malfait,Emma Gostick,Martin Lammens,Marie M. Couttenye,Philippe G. Jorens,Herman Goossens,David Price,Kristin Ladell,Yoshihiro Oka,Fumihiro Fujiki,Yusuke Oji,Haruo Sugiyama,Zwi N. Berneman +30 more
TL;DR: Vaccination of patients with AML with WT1 mRNA-electroporated DCs can be an effective strategy to prevent or delay relapse after standard chemotherapy, translating into improved OS rates, which are correlated with the induction of WT1-specific CD8+ T-cell response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence, Characteristics, and Outcome of COVID-19 in Adults on Kidney Replacement Therapy: A Regionwide Registry Study.
Johan De Meester,Dirk De Bacquer,Maarten Naesens,Björn Meijers,Marie M. Couttenye,An S. De Vriese +5 more
TL;DR: Mortality associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection is high in patients on RRT and calculation of excess mortality and age standardization provide a more reliable picture of the mortality burden of COVID-19 among patients onRRT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Haemodialysis-associated anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions.
TL;DR: Successful management of these patients requires multidisciplinary approach and involves prompt recognition and treatment by the attending physician, and identification of the offending agent(s) with subsequent avoidance of the incriminated compound(s).
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Moderate Aerobic Exercise Training on Endothelial Function and Arterial Stiffness in CKD Stages 3-4: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Amaryllis H. Van Craenenbroeck,Emeline M. Van Craenenbroeck,Katrijn Van Ackeren,Christiaan J. Vrints,Viviane M. Conraads,Gert A. Verpooten,Evangelia Kouidi,Marie M. Couttenye +7 more
TL;DR: In patients with CKD stages 3 to 4 without overt cardiovascular disease, 3 months of aerobic exercise training improved VO(2peak) and quality of life, without altering endothelial function or arterial stiffness.
