Journal ArticleDOI

Kinetics and isotherms of leather dye adsorption by tannery solid waste

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential for reuse of industrial wastes of vegetal and chromium tanned leather as an adsorbent has been proposed to be an efficient and economical alternative in removal of tannery dyes from aqueous solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microwave-assisted activated carbon obtained from the sludge of tannery-treatment effluent plant for removal of leather dyes

TL;DR: In this paper, an activated carbon was prepared by chemical activation of the sludge collected from tannery wastewater treatment plant (TWTP) using microwave heating, and the carbonized material was refluxed with a 6.0 m−L−1 HCl to obtain the activated carbon (AMWCTS), characterized by SEM, FTIR, TGA, XRD, BET and BJH analytical techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Removal of chromium from tanning wastewater and its reuse

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the removal of the chromium (Cr) from the tanning wastewater through chemical precipitation (CP) and electrocoagulation (EC) techniques and its reuse in tanning process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anaerobic digestion of chrome-tanned leather waste for biogas production

TL;DR: The results indicated a considerable gain in biogas production, if the leather substrate is treated or mixed with readily degradable materials prior to its use as substrate for anaerobic digestion (destabilizing the chrome–collagen complexes, increasing of the water dispersion and lowering the stability of chrome– Collagen complexes).
Journal ArticleDOI

Color removal from real leather dyeing effluent using tannery waste as an adsorbent

TL;DR: In this paper, the adsorption of the dye acid red 357 (AR357) present in dyeing effluent, through the use of chromium tanned leather waste (CTLW) as an adsorbent is investigated.
