Modeling the Structure of the Attitudes and Belief Scale 2 using CFA and Bifactor Approaches : Toward the Development of an Abbreviated Version
TL;DR: Current results support the use of a bifactor modeling approach to determining the factor structure of the ABS-2 and provide empirical support for the psychometric properties of the newly developed abbreviated version.
Journal ArticleDOI
The latent structure of loneliness: testing competing factor models of the UCLA Loneliness Scale in a large adolescent sample.
TL;DR: Evidence is found that the subscales of the UCLA Loneliness Scale were differentially associated with psychiatric morbidity as measured by the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) and provides a more reliable and comprehensive framework to assess the clinical significance of loneliness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thanos Karatzias,Thanos Karatzias,Mark Shevlin,Philip Hyland,Chris R. Brewin,Marylene Cloitre,Marylene Cloitre,Aoife Bradley,Neil J Kitchiner,Neil J Kitchiner,Sandra Jumbe,Jonathan Ian Bisson,Neil P. Roberts,Neil P. Roberts +13 more
TL;DR: It was found that the most important factor in the diagnosis of CPTSD was negative trauma-related cognitions about the self, followed by attachment anxiety, and expressive suppression, and cognitive-behavioural interventions might be useful for the treatment of CPtsD.

The relationship between ICD-11 PTSD, complex PTSD and dissociative experiences
Philip Hyland,Mark Shevlin,Claire Fyvie,Marylene Cloitre,Marylene Cloitre,Thanos Karatzias,Thanos Karatzias +6 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that dissociative experiences are particularly relevant for clinical patients with CPTSD, and future longitudinal work will be needed to determine if dissociation is a risk factor for, or outcome of,CPTSD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Are posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex-PTSD distinguishable within a treatment-seeking sample of Syrian refugees living in Lebanon?
Philip Hyland,Ruth Ceannt,F. Daccache,R. Abou Daher,J. B. Sleiman,Brynne Gilmore,S. Byrne,Mark Shevlin,Jamie Murphy,Frédérique Vallières +9 more
TL;DR: Support for the discriminant validity of ICD-11 PTSD and CPTSD was observed for the first time within a sample of refugees, and the prevalence of PTSD andCPTSD were similar to those observed in culturally distinct contexts.
