Modeling the Electrochemical Hydrogen Oxidation and Evolution Reactions on the Basis of Density Functional Theory Calculations

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed model consisting of a negatively charged Pt(111) slab and solvated protons in up to three water bilayers is considered and reaction energies and activation barriers are determined by using a newly developed computational scheme where the potential can be kept constant during a charge transfer reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bioinspired molecular co-catalysts bonded to a silicon photocathode for solar hydrogen evolution

TL;DR: It is shown that bioinspired molecular clusters based on molybdenum and sulphur evolve hydrogen at rates comparable to that of platinum, and the current densities at the reversible potential match the requirement of a photoelectrochemical hydrogen production system with a solar-to-hydrogen efficiency in excess of 10%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling the electrified solid-liquid interface

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed model based on density functional theory calculations is presented of the charged solid-electrolyte interface, where the interface capacitance is well described and how the work function can be related directly to the potential scale of the normal hydrogen electrode.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrochemical CO2 and CO reduction on metal-functionalized porphyrin-like graphene

TL;DR: In this article, the porphyrin-like metal-functionalized graphene structures have been investigated as possible catalysts for CO2 and CO reduction to methane or methanol.
