Journal ArticleDOI
DNA Melting and Genotoxicity Induced by Silver Nanoparticles and Graphene
Angela Ivask,Nicolas H. Voelcker,Shane A. Seabrook,Maryam Hor,Jason K. Kirby,Michael Fenech,Thomas P. Davis,Thomas P. Davis,Pu Chun Ke +8 more
TL;DR: A connection between DNA-nanoparticle (NP) binding and in vitro DNA damage induced by citrate- and branched polyethylenimine-coated silver nanoparticles and graphene oxide nanosheets is revealed, facilitating understanding of the effects of NP chemical composition, surface charge, and morphology on DNA stability and genotoxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Buccal micronucleus cytome assay: results of an intra- and inter-laboratory scoring comparison
Claudia Bolognesi,Paola Roggieri,Monica Ropolo,Philip Thomas,Maryam Hor,Michael Fenech,Armen Nersesyan,Siegfried Knasmueller +7 more
TL;DR: The guidelines for BMCyt assay application could be improved by combining the anomalies associated with cell death in a single category and by defining more stringent criteria in classifying basal cell, binucleated cells and buds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inter-laboratory consistency and variability in the buccal micronucleus cytome assay depends on biomarker scored and laboratory experience: results from the HUMNxl international inter-laboratory scoring exercise
Claudia Bolognesi,Siegfried Knasmueller,Armen Nersesyan,Paola Roggieri,Marcello Ceppi,Marco Bruzzone,Ewa Blaszczyk,Danuta Mielzynska-Svach,Mirta Milić,Stefano Bonassi,Danieli Benedetti,Juliana da Silva,Raphael Toledo,Daisy Maria Favero Salvadori,Helena Groot de Restrepo,Metka Filipič,Klara Hercog,Ayça Aktas,Sema Burgaz,Michael Kundi,Tamara Grummt,Philip Thomas,Maryam Hor,Maria Escudero-Fung,Nina Holland,Michael Fenech +25 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that all laboratories correctly discriminated samples from the two groups by a significant increase of micronucleus (MN) and nuclear bud (NBUD) frequencies and differentiated binucleated (BN) cells, associated with the exposure to ionizing radiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cell microarrays for the screening of factors that allow the enrichment of bovine testicular cells
Emily J. Anglin,Emily J. Anglin,Rhonda Davey,Muren Herrid,Shelly Hope,Mahaveer D. Kurkuri,Paul Pasic,Maryam Hor,Michael Fenech,Helmut Thissen,Nicolas H. Voelcker,Nicolas H. Voelcker +11 more
TL;DR: This work is the first to demonstrate the utility of surface engineered cell‐based microarrays for the identification of factors that allow the selective capture of rare cells from tissue isolated heterogeneous mixtures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sorted cell microarrays as platforms for high-content informational bioassays
Emily J. Anglin,Emily J. Anglin,Carolyn Salisbury,Sheree Bailey,Sheree Bailey,Maryam Hor,Peter J. Macardle,Peter J. Macardle,Michael Fenech,Helmut Thissen,Nicolas H. Voelcker,Nicolas H. Voelcker +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, surface-engineered microarrays were used to provide in situ cell sorting, localization, and immobilization of various subsets of human primary lymphocytes, followed by an on-chip bioassay for ionizing-radiation induced cytogenetic damage.
