Journal ArticleDOI
Bacillus thuringiensis coated zinc oxide nanoparticle and its biopesticidal effects on the pulse beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus.
Balasubramanian Malaikozhundan,Baskaralingam Vaseeharan,Sekar Vijayakumar,Merlin P. Thangaraj +3 more
TL;DR: The synthesis and biological evaluation of Bacillus thuringiensis coated zinc oxide nanoparticles (Bt-ZnO NPs) on the pulse beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus are reported for the first time and suggest that they are effective against C.maculatus and could be used as nanobiopesticides in the control of stored grain insect pests in the future.
Journal ArticleDOI
RNA-binding Protein Quaking Stabilizes Sirt2 mRNA during Oligodendroglial Differentiation.
Merlin P. Thangaraj,Kendra L Furber,Jotham K. Gan,Shaoping Ji,Shaoping Ji,LaRhonda Sobchishin,J. Ronald Doucette,Adil J. Nazarali +7 more
TL;DR: It is reported for the first time that QKI directly binds to Sirt2 mRNA via a common quaking response element (QRE) located in the 3′ untranslated region (UTR) to control SIRT2 expression in OL lineage cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of β-1, 3 glucan binding protein based zinc oxide nanoparticles supplemented diet on immune response and disease resistance in Oreochromis mossambicus against Aeromonas hydrophila.
Mahalingam Anjugam,Baskaralingam Vaseeharan,Arokiadhas Iswarya,Narayanan Gobi,Mani Divya,Merlin P. Thangaraj,Preetham Elumalai +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that dietary supplementation of Pp&bgr;‐GBP‐ZnO NPs at 0.004% may have a potential effect to enhance the immune system and survival of O. mossambicus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chitosan-coated silver nanoparticles promoted antibacterial, antibiofilm, wound-healing of murine macrophages and antiproliferation of human breast cancer MCF 7 cells
Ayyanar Parthasarathy,Sekar Vijayakumar,Balasubramanian Malaikozhundan,Merlin P. Thangaraj,Perumal Ekambaram,Thangaswamy Murugan,Palaniyandi Velusamy,Periasamy Anbu,Baskaralingam Vaseeharan +8 more
TL;DR: In-vitro anti-biofilm activity of Ch-AgNPs was tested against wound infection-causing pathogenic bacteria and promoted wound healing by increasing the migration of RAW 264.7 murine macrophages cells at 75 and 100 μg mL−1 after 24 h.
Journal ArticleDOI
Organotypic Cultures from the Adult CNS: A Novel Model to Study Demyelination and Remyelination Ex Vivo.
Glaiza A Tan,Kendra L Furber,Merlin P. Thangaraj,LaRhonda Sobchishin,J. Ronald Doucette,Adil J. Nazarali +5 more
TL;DR: Adult cerebellar organotypic cultures provide a novel ex vivo platform for screening potential therapies in myelin degeneration and repair in multiple sclerosis, as a major barrier to myelin regeneration is age.
