Strain-induced local surface chemical ordering observed by STM.
TL;DR: PtNi alloys are known to exhibit a tendency towards chemical ordering, which also effects surface segregation, and it is argued that this dislocation-induced ordering can immobilize dislocations.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors demonstrate that recently emerged BQ.1.1 and XBB.1 variants bind ACE2 with high affinity and promote membrane fusion more efficiently than earlier Omicron variants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ectopic NORs on human chromosomes 4qter and 8q11: rare chromosomal variants detected in two families
TL;DR: Family analysis showed the variant chromosomes to be transmitted through at least three generations in each family, indicating the benign character of the aberrant chromosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
High chemical activity of a perovskite surface: reaction of CO with Sr(3)Ru(2)O(7).
Bernhard Stöger,Marcel Hieckel,Florian Mittendorfer,Zhiming Wang,David Fobes,Jin Peng,Zhiqiang Mao,Michael Schmid,Josef Redinger,Ulrike Diebold +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and density functional theory was used to study the adaption of CO at the surface of perovskite oxides.

Nickel-Oxide-Modified SrTiO3(110)-(4 × 1) Surfaces and Their Interaction with Water

TL;DR: Nickel oxide, deposited onto the strontium titanate (SrTiO3) (110)-(4 × 1) surface, was studied using photoemission spectroscopy (PES), X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES), and low-energy He+ ion scattering (LEIS), as well as scanning tunneling microscopy (STM).
