Journal ArticleDOI
Diversity of 16S-rRNA and nifH genes derived from rhizosphere soil and roots of an endemic drought tolerant grass, Lasiurus sindicus
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that L. sindicus harbors a diversity of bacteria with potential for nitrogen fixation, and some nifH sequences showed close similarity to cultivated diazotrophs like Azospirillum brasilense, Rhizobium sp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Root colonization by Pseudomonas sp. DSMZ 13134 and impact on the indigenous rhizosphere bacterial community of barley.
TL;DR: To investigate the impact of the application of Proradix® on the structure of the dominant root-associated bacterial community of barley, T-RFLP analyses were performed and only a transient community effect was found until 3 weeks post-application.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nickel carbide as a source of grain rotation in epitaxial graphene.
Peter Jacobson,Bernhard Stöger,Andreas Garhofer,Gareth S. Parkinson,Michael Schmid,Roman Caudillo,Florian Mittendorfer,Josef Redinger,Ulrike Diebold +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that surface phases such as Ni(2)C can play a major role in the quality of epitaxial graphene, which should facilitate a phase separation of the carbide into metal-supported graphene.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Pd (100)-(root 5 x root 5)R27 degrees-O surface oxide: A LEED, DFT and STM study
Petr Kostelník,Nicola Seriani,Georg Kresse,Anders Mikkelsen,Edvin Lundgren,Volker Blum,Tomáš Šikola,Peter Varga,Michael Schmid +8 more
TL;DR: Using low energy electron diffraction (LEED), density functional theory (DFT) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), Todorova et al. as mentioned in this paper re-analyzed the Pd(100)-(root 5 x root 5)R27 degrees-O surface oxide structure consisting, in the most recent model, of a strained PdO(101) layer on top of the surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deletion mapping of the testis determining locus with DNA probes in 46,XX males and in 46,XY and 46,X,dic(Y)females
Ulrich Müller,Timothy A. Donlon,Michael Schmid,Naomi Fitch,Claude-Lise Richer,Marc Lalande,Samuel A. Latt,Samuel A. Latt +7 more
TL;DR: Eleven Y-specific DNA probes hybridizing with DNA from one or more 46,XX males were isolated from a recombinant phage DNA library constructed from flow sorted human Y chromosomes, suggesting that complex translocations may occur into the DNA of 46, XX males that involve not only parts of Yp but also part of Yq.
